A POSITIVE WEEK

One small positive thought
in the morning can change
your whole day.

~ Pinterest

This week has been early, early rising,
giving myself a positive pep talk each
morning before my feet hit the floor.

getting outside to watch the sun rise,

loving the super moon,

picking figs [hooray],

a really nasty summer storm that
knocked my power out for the
evening, 10 minutes before I
had dinner complete. We ate
really late having decided to just
wait it out with our candles and
our books.

thrilled that that tree trimming
crew is bringing me free mulch.

spending a whole morning in
the kitchen just cleaning copper,
most of which I've had since I
was first married over 30 years
ago.

Eat  *chimichurri  sauce on everything
from scrambled eggs, to quinoa patties,
to cold boiled new potatoes. Vampires
will NOT be bothering me.

Finishing up a gift for the swap.

I hope you have something fun to look
forward to this weekend, I'm headed to
the beach with a good friend, something
I have been looking forward to. Enjoy
yourself!

Tracey

A SUMMER YARN ALONG

Honey, knitting is so much more
than just plain obsessive compulsive
behavior...it's the healthiest addition
I know!

~ Antje Gillingham

I was asked by the women's ministry
at my church  if I would knit a prayer
shawl for a member that is facing
cancer treatments, so of course I set
everything else aside and immediately
cast on A Textured Shawl Recipe. Since
the shawl needs to be soft and easy to
care for I am using Lion Brand Amazing
on size 10 needles.  I hope it will convey
the prayers and the love I am putting into
it and offer at least a little bit of comfort
to someone who is going through a hard
time.

I was given a Debbie Macomber  book,
Summer on Blossom Street. This is my
first Macomber book and I was pleasantly
surprised to find a scarf pattern at the
beginning of the book.  Each chapter is
dedicated to a character and while I have
not discovered the plot, the writing is easy to
read and perfect after a long day of working
outside, or for reading while laying on the
beach.

THERE WERE NO PLANS

You don't always need a plan.
Sometimes you just need to
breathe, trust, let go and
see what happens.

~ Mandy Hale

This week has been me staying
home. Picking berries. Spraying
garlic water on peaches to keep
the stink bugs away.  Cleaning around
the fig tree so no snakes can hide.
Moving Tyrion and Daenerys outside
and checking on them constantly
because I worry. Knitting dish cloths
for the women at my salon, they asked.
Watching beautiful clouds in the sky,
listening to thunder and melting from
the humidity that hits me as soon as
I step outside. Seeing the last of
the day lilies bloom until next
year.
It's been a good week, how about you?

PATIENCE

Adopt the pace of nature:
her secret is patience.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Figs, my all time favorite fruit,
the main ingredient in my favorite
salad, The fruit I need to make
this, and then I want to try this, this.
this, and this. Oh, and then there
is this too!

Patience? It's hard sometimes.

THE LAST WEEK OF MARCH

Create each day anew by clothing yourself
with heaven and earth, bathing yourself
with wisdom and love, and placing yourself
in the heart of Mother Nature.

~Morihei Ueshiba

Thank you so much for all your
kind comments about my Hair,
you made me cry and I wish I
could give each of you a big
hug! You are the best and I
am so lucky to have you in
my life.

This week has been quiet mornings,
going from a high of 81 degrees one
day to a low of 20 degrees the following
night. I am hoping we had our last
fire in the wood stove for the season
since we are almost out of wood,
something that never happens.

I discovered Miss Bette Davis, the cat,
has been having little nibbles on my
violet, so it has been moved to prevent
further violation.

I was almost to the toe of my sock when
I realized I knit the heel flap, but never
turned the heel! Ahem.

My Mike brought me a load of pallets
and made me two of these. Now I
need to clean out my studio and hang
them.

The fruit trees seemed to have faired well
in the frost.  I am on my last quart of
blueberries so I was a little worried
about my bushes, they are almost
twenty years old and too tall to wrap,
but the buds look fine. And the fig
tree is starting to leaf, always a good
thing since figs are my favorite fruit.

Pollen is everywhere!

I have been listening to The Orphan Train
everyday when I walk, have you read
or listened to it? It is fantastic, so
much so that I walked for almost two
hours yesterday because I wanted to
keep listening.

I wish you the best of weekend's
and hope you have some time
to get out and enjoy this wondrous
planet we all walk on.

Tracey

SPRING IS HERE

Everything is blooming most recklessly,
if it were voices instead of colors, there
would be an unbelievable shrieking into
the heart of the night.
~Rainer Maria Rilke

This week saw the rain move out
and the sun, along with warmer
temperatures return.

The fruit trees are blooming,
along with the pines,
pollen is blowing around
and I am drinking pots of
nettle tea and using the neti pot
faithfully.

I scheduled an appointment
to have my hair cut, Tuesday,
the 25, now if I can just keep my
nerve to have it cut. My hair
is 22 inches long, I measured,
and we are quite attached to
each other.

I have been using the
oil method to clean my
face and loving how soft
my skin feels, have you
tried it?

I'm ready to turn the heel
on the socks I'm knitting,
it doesn't take much to
make me happy, I am
very excited.

My fourth baby, Peter, turned
21 today, the first day of spring.
Wow, I wish the days would
slow down just a wee bit,
they are flying by.

There are no plans here for
the weekend, although I
wouldn't  mind a walk
on the beach, it's been
too long.

Whatever you have planned
I hope you enjoy yourself.

Love,
Tracey
