THE WEEKEND

Summer's loss seems little,
dear, on days like these.

~ Ernest Dowson

The cold weather finally
made it's way south and
this weekend saw the
first fire of the season.

We ate a lovely warm
salad from one of my
favorite book's.
I am hard at work with
Christmas gift making.
This is a drawing Emerson
did that I copied onto cloth,
am going to embroidery then
turn into a pillow.

The mail delivered the last
Love Note. I am not a writer,
but I always sign up to challenge
myself. It was fun, in a scary,
heart pounding way.
I am learning to
be a kitty mama
which is a good
thing since where
I go, Bette follows.
There was a hiccup in my
sweater  knitting...not because
of the pattern, it was all me,
but thanks to a phone call
with a dear, dear friend, I
am back on track and my
Pappaw doesn't need to have
a 100" arm.
.

Enjoy a beautiful start
to your week my friend.

YARN ALONG

A knitter only appears to be

knitting yarn. Also being knitted
are winks, mischief, sighs, fragrant
possibilities, wild dreams.

~Dr. SunWol

Knitting this week has taken
a little detour, while I am
still knitting away on my
sweater for Emerson, I
cast on and off a little bird
that I think will make a
fun Christmas ornament.
The pattern is offered free
on Ravelry, it's super easy,
quick and the end result
is, I think, pretty cute.

I am reading one of the
best books, The Goldfinch.
I have just begun Part II
and while I am trying to
take it slow, you know,
to make it last, I find myself
sitting longer and longer
soaking in the words that
Donna Tartt has so amazingly
arranged on paper. I have
added The Goldfinch to
my top 20 list of favorite
books.

MY WEEKEND WITH EMERSON

Grandmother- grandchild relationships are
simple, Grandma's are short on criticism
and long on love.

~ Unknown

This has been a weekend of
waking way before the sun
even thinks about rising,
lots of painting, paper,
cutting and tape...miles
of tape. Reading books
while cuddling on the sofa,
drinking hot cocoa with
little marshmallows, collecting
leaves, twirling, long walks
with new walking sticks,
singing at the top of our lungs,
making mud cakes for fairies,
watching this while sharing
a large bowl of popcorn,
and most of all ....lots of love,
laughter and the best hugs.
It went by too quickly.

LIFE THIS WEEK

Life is the fire that burns and
the sun that gives light.  Life
is the wind and the rain and
the thunder in the sky.  Life
is matter and is earth, what
is and what is not, and what
beyond is in Eternity.

~Seneca

Life this week has been...

My computer blue screening first
thing Monday morning...argh!

Thank goodness for sweet son's
who don't mind sharing their
computer until mine can be repaired.

Receiving a wonderful surprise in
my inbox....a pattern from a dear
friend, my first bottom up sweater.
I have done a gauge swatch and
am now practicing the cabling
to make sure I'm doing it right
and then I can cast on. [Sometimes
knitting left handed can have challenges.]

I finished my In Memory of Dorthea
and was honestly sorry to cast off the
last stitch, it was such a joy to knit.
Next week I will take it to town and
give it away.

I knit a hat, just a fun little project.

Prepared sweet and sour for my guys
from one of my favorite old cookbooks,
they loved it and I promised to serve
it more.

I finished reading The Secret History
and recommend it highly and if
The Goldfinch continues the way it
has started I think I will have another
favorite book to add to my list.

I hope whatever you do, you enjoy
your weekend.
Emerson, my one and only grand
and one of my favorite people is
coming for the weekend so
it should be pretty lively here,
she loves to be busy.

Love,
Tracey
