The people who love to eat
are always the best people.
~ Julia Childs
Not only do I live with some of
the best people, I blog with them
too so I wanted to share with you
a recipe we have been enjoying.
Blueberry Galette
3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
1/4 cup stone ground corn meal
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
6 Tablespoons chilled butter, cubed
3 Tablespoons ice water.
Combine dry ingredients, mix in butter
until mixture feels like heavy sand. Add
ice water, mix well and chill for at least
30 minutes.
In a mixing bowl combine:
3 cups blue berries
3 Tablespoons flour
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 Tablespoons honey
Preheat oven 375 degrees.
Roll dough in a circle and place
on a flat sheet [I use a cast iron
pizza pan]. Pour fruit mixture
in the middle of dough and fold
sides over about 2-3 inches, leaving
the center open.
Sprinkle with 1 Tablespoon Turbinado sugar
and bake 35- 40 minutes, just till crust is a
nice golden brown and the berries are
starting to burst.
Cool slightly then enjoy. I like my slice
topped with a little vanilla yogurt.

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING
it doesn't matter what
others are doing.
it matters what
YOU
are doing.
~ satsuki shibuya
It's been a busy few days
and I've love it.
I took a little trip to
visit my son Charlie and
his wife Ashley. I was
able to get a tour of the
area they live and if
it was closer to the beach
I might be tempted to
move ;)
We traveled on a long dirt
road that at one time was the
main connection between
Georgia and the upper part
of South Carolina.
You can still see the stumps
in the road after all these years.
If you look at the right of the
photo you can see what is left
of a plantation's stairs after the
home was burned on Sherman's
March to the Sea.
There was this little guy
sunning himself on a log.
I'm sorry it's a little blurry,
but he jumped in the water
right after I took the picture.
I saw a fox squirrel
who posed for a photo.
The cotton fields
were everywhere
and I want to see
them when the cotton
is ready to harvest.
was built in 1910. It's a shame
it's now being used for storage
because it would cost over a million
dollars to make it safe and the
owner can't afford that amount.

I saw the cutest little home
that I think would be perfect
for me and Mike now that
most of the children are grown.
I loved this old building thatwas built in 1910. It's a shame

The snakes here at home have
been horrible this year.
We found this guy on the
side of the rabbit hutch
and I am still trying to catch
the one that is visiting my ducks
and eating eggs.
The Good Year Blimp
flew over the house which
is always fun to see.
I picked the first ripe
blueberry of the season.
And we finally had a good ol' summer
storm with lightening, thunder and rain!
I wish you a weekend that is nourishing
to your soul.
Love,
Tracey

YARN ALONG

Hark! the hours are softly calling
Bidding Spring arise
To listen to the rain-drops falling
From the cloudy skies
To listen to Earth's weary voices
Louder every day
Bidding her no longer linger
On her charm'd way
But hasten to her task of beauty
Scarcely yet begun.
~Adelaide Anne Procter
As soon as I cast off my last
pair of socks I grabbed somemore yarn and cast on a new
pair. I am playing around
with the pattern trying to
find just the right one for
me, what feels best on my
feet, what is fun to knit,
what little details I want
to add to give each pair of
socks their own personality.
I have spent a lot of hours
looking at different patterns,
but it's fun and isn't that what
knitting is all about? :)
I know I'm probably the last one
to read it, but I have started
The Snow Child and for all those
that told me I would love it you
are right, I do! I first heard about
the book from Lori and then Cory
and I had a book exchange with
her sending me this book, thank
you Cory. Have you read it?

A BLUEBERRY YARN ALONG

yarn coming out of it, so she can
knit while she's standing. And
she's just knitting and looking at
everything."
~Where'd You Go Bernadette?
by Maria Semple
First I want to say thank you for
all the prayers being said for my
son -in-love, John. I passed all the
comments to my daughter, Erin,
so she can tell him. It really means
so much to these young men and
women who are overseas to know
they are being thought of and
remembered.
Knitting this week has been very
soothing. I made my first ever
gauge swatch and actually got the
right gauge so I immediately cast
on Tiny Tea Leaves to give to
Emerson [my favorite person in
the whole world] for Easter. I have
completed the yoke, which requires
a lot of needle size changing [oy]
and am now on the body. Easter
is so early this year so I am trying
to make sure I finish in time and
I am hoping it's cold enough to
actually wear a sweater. As you
can see in the photos my blueberry
bushes are already loading with
blooms so I need it cold, but not
so cold that it destroys my chances
of fruit, that has happened in the
past and it was painful.
I forgot to bring my book outside
with me, but I am reading
Where'd You Go Bernadette?
and I love it! Amazon has quite
a list of reviews so I won't bother
to repeat them, but I do want to
tell you I have laughed so hard
that I nearly had tea come out
my nose. Oh, and Bernadette is
a knitter which makes me love
her all the more.
Now, I am just keeping my
fingers crossed that the ending
is a good as the first half of
the book.
Joining with Ginny.
