someone once told me to always
to live for the little things in life,
live for 5 am sunrises and 5pm sunsets
where you'll see colors in the sky that
don't usually belong.
live for road trips and bike rides
with music in your ears and the
wind in your hair.
live for days when you're surrounded
by your favorite people who make you
realize the world is not a cold harsh
place.
live for the little things because they
will make you realize that this is what
life is about, this is what it means to be
alive.

Slow summer days
filled with little things::
dragonflies,
walks,
thunderstorms,
sticky heat,
watching the sun rise,
playing with pens and
watercolor pencils,
eating from the garden,
healthy cake
blueberry biscuits topped
with cinnamon butter,
knitting,
naps,
a bathroom remodel,
drooling over BT's
newest Lookbook,
planning my next project
Porter turned one month,
spending a few days
with a favorite girl who
always makes me smile.
Enjoy a great weekend!
Much love,
Tracey

IT NEVER GETS EASIER
It is one thing to show your
child the way, and a harder
thing to then stand out of it.

WEEKENDING
“The Sea,
once it casts its spell,
holds one in its net of
wonder forever.”
--Jacques Cousteau
A weekend of crossing bridges,
breathing in the salt air as the
waves renewed my soul.
Watching a lone shrimp boat
wait her turn under the draw bridge
and hoping the shrimpers have
a great season as the last few
years have been hard on them.
An unexpected sleepover with
my favorite four year old!!!
Hearing all about her new school
and the friends she is making.
Collecting all the hugs I can
and holding them tight inside
my heart.
The studio has been cleaned so
today will be paints and pencils
as I need to fill the long hours,
but thankful for each and every
one of them.
I hope your weekend is going
well and it has been filled with
unexpected happy surprises!

I CREATE MYSELF
The philosophy of mine earth
can be summed up as this:
Sunshine creates happiness,
and I create myself. Nights
are long and life is predominantly
good. Wind is refreshing. Tea is
wisdom. Do the best you can,
and be good to yourself so
that you can above all be
good to others.

THINGS ARE CHANGING...
Without accepting the fact
that everything changes,
we cannot find perfect
composure. But unfortunately,
although it is true, it is
difficult for us to accept it.
Because we cannot accept
the truth of transience,
we suffer.
~Shunryu Suzuki
... my first time in
years without the wee one
at my side and having no
idea when I will see her
again.
Spent the day at 'my place'.
I'm going to be okay.

SILENCE
We all seek happiness so eagerly,
that in the pursuit we often lose
that joyous sense of existence,
and those quiet daily pleasures,
the value of which our pride alone
prevents us from acknowledging.
It has been said with some meaning,
that if [wo]men would rest in silence,
they might always hear the music
of the spheres.

THIS MOMENT
{this moment} -
A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from
the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause,
savor and remember.

SAND AND YARN
"Are you feeling, feeling, feeling like I'm, feeling
Like I'm floating, floating, up above that big blue ocean
Sand beneath our feet, big blue sky above our heads,
No need to keep stressing from our everyday life on our minds
We have got to leave all that behind"
-At the beach, The Avett brothers
The Lovey Dovey came out
a little long. I thought it would
make a great beach cover up so we
tried it out Tuesday and it works, plus
I don't have to worry about it being
outgrown anytime soon because
from the looks of it she can wear it
for many, many years. Maybe
one day I will finally 'get' gauge.
I am still working on the next one,
but since it's in wool I didn't think
I could handle it in the heat so I
cast on Pebble Tank in cotton.
A super simple pattern, one that is
easy to pick up and set down, perfect
a lazy day at the beach.
I first heard of A Prayer for Owen Meany
when I was visiting Ivey's space and I am
so thankful I did, I love this book. Once I
am finished I plan on having every member
of my family reading it too.
Amazon says,
"In the summer of 1953, two eleven-year-old boys
—best friends—are playing in a Little League
baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire.
One of the boys hits a foul ball that kills the
other boy's mother. The boy who hits the ball
doesn't believe in accidents; Owen Meany
believes he is God's instrument. What happens
to Owen after that 1953 foul ball is extraordinary."
I am about a quarter of the way into the book
and find myself wishing I had more hours in
my day to just read.
What are you knitting and reading this week?
