SIGH

To give vent now and then to his [her]
feelings, whether of pleasure or discontent,
is a great ease to a [wo]man's heart.

~Francesco Guicciardini

A week starting out with
spring like temperatures
only to be reminded in
the end that this is still
winter. My temperatures
have dropped 30 degrees
and it has been raining
now for three days straight
making me just a little bit
down, sigh.

There were some quiet walks,
time playing with my 'grand'
dog Elsie, making hummus
not once, but twice this week;
it's really good with Terra Chips.
I observed Strove Tuesday
with these pancakes.  I've been
knitting every chance I get,
and while I love the projects
I am working on I really want
to cast on this, but am not
sure which yarn from my
stash to use.  There is a
new book on my nightstand
and a notebook filled with
ideas from the Food Summit,
now just waiting for the
sun to shine so I can get
outside.

Please don't forget to enter
my giveaway.

I hope your weekend
is a great one.

Love,
Tracey

EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Be in love with your life,
every minute of it!

~ Jack Kerovac

There was snow all around, but
none for us, just lots of rain and
ice making electricity iffy at times.
I'm not sure if it's because of the
weather, but I spent a lot of time
playing in the kitchen this week.

I made cashew crème,
was even a late night episode
of frying homemade French
fries while watching the
Olympics. To make potato
chips, slice the potatoes
thin, fry in olive oil and
sprinkle with sea salt, oh
my goodness! They are
even better if you sprinkle
a little malt vinegar on them.

There might have been a few
tears falling as I watched
it was just beautiful.

And then there were even
more tears when I received
the picture of my almost
96 year old  [May 1] wearing
the cardigan I knit for him.

Enjoy a beautiful weekend
and Happy Valentines Day.

Love,
Tracey

A SIMPLE WEEK

To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an
evening saunter... to be thrilled by the
stars at night; to be elated over a bird's
nest or a wildflower in spring - these
are some of the rewards of the simple
life.

~John Burroughs

It has been a simple week here...

...enjoying morning and evening
walks in unusually warm weather.
While most of the country battles
another winter storm, I have been
dealing with temperatures in the
80's and almost unbearable humidity.
With winter temps this high I am
a little scared to see what summer
has in store...

...noticing signs of spring all around...

....enjoying this in the mornings....

...and finally coming up with just
the right combination for my chai...

...winding yarn and working on part
of my gift for my swap partner...

...realizing I am fighting a lost cause
in keeping Bette Davis off my bed...

...being super excited that the Olympics
are beginning tonight.

...and watching some amazing sunsets.

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
I am getting together with my best friend for
lunch out and a visit to the LYS for a pattern
and yarn, she wants me to knit her a scarf.

Whatever you have planned I hope you take
the time to notice all the beauty that surrounds
you.

Peace to you
Love,
Tracey

A FEBRUARY WEEKEND

Like the sky opens after a rainy day we
must open to ourselves.... Learn to love
yourself for who you are and open so the
world can see you shine.

~James Poland

This was a weekend of waking
early on a cold Saturday morning,
driving for hours to have lunch with
my daughter, son -in- love, and
Emerson, my favorite five year old.
Seeing her little smiling face, listening
to her read me a book, holding her .
tight before I left made my whole day.
I stopped at Whole Foods before going
home to restock my favorite cereal
{I buy in bulk} and finding the price has
gone up...a lot. Now I am on a mission
to come up with my own recipe.

Sunday has been a day of knitting and
reading. Taking a long walk and having
to take my jacket off because it was so
warm. Tomorrow it is suppose to be in
the 80's! This has been the strangest
winter.

Thank you for all the well wishes on
Thursday's post.  I am now well
rested and that sense of peace that
I usually carry with me has returned
making me feel more like myself. I
am looking forward to a beautiful week
and I hope the same for you. Can
you believe it's already February?!
