JUST A LITTLE GIVEAWAY

It isn't the size of the gift that matters,
but the size of the heart that gives it.

~Eileen Elias Freeman

I know so many of you are
experiencing a long, hard
winter and it is beginning
to take its toll. While I can't
do anything about the weather,
I thought I could send a little
something to make this winter
a little brighter.

While poking around on
Pinterest I saw something
that I knew I could do...

Knitting needle bracelets!!!

My Mike and I made a couple
and I would love to share one
with you. I also thought
you might like some pretty
yarn to add a little color
to a grey winter's day.

Just leave a comment telling
me something I don't know
about you and I'll add your
name to the list. I'll close the
comments and randomly draw
a winner next week.

Sending warm, sunny wishes
your way!

  1. Mmh, something you don't know about me? How about I was born in Vienna. Did you know that? :-) The weather is ghastly here today but since it is housekeeping day I don't mind too much, the cats on the other hand, hate it when the sun is not shining. The knitting needle bracelets look pretty cool.

  2. I don't like fruit very much and I always taste my veggies first at dinner. I hope you don't know that about me :) my son attends the same university that my husband and I met at. There that is something you definitely do not know!! Thank you Tracey, you are a generous spirit :)

  5. What a lovely give away. I am a "Duke of Edinburgh Award" girl and was invited to Buckingham Palace to receive my Gold medal from the Duke of Edinburgh back in the 70s.

  6. You are a sweetie. Winter has not been so bad here in SW Washington, but that yarn is so pretty and your crafty bracelets are, well, so cute I would pay you to make one for me. :) Seriously.

Um, something you do not know about me is that I have struggled with insomnia ever since my first was born 25 years ago. No fun. On a lighter note, as a teen we used to drive home to Pittsburgh every summer in just 2.5 days all the way from Washington state. I would dash into McDonalds to wash my hair in the bathroom sink while my parents ordered burgers and fries at the drive-up window. Crazy!

  7. ...that should say 2 [point] 5 days (as in 2 and a half); it looks like I typed "25" which would have been a long, boring way to spend the summer when I was a teen. :)

  8. Oh how beautiful - both the bracelets and the yarn! I dont think I have ever commented here, so I suppose anything would be new.. My biggest news is that my grandson is due at the beginning of May and I am going over to visit him in July, so if i won you could post these lovelies to my daughter in New York and we could knit up that lovely wool together.

  9. In our North West Minneapolis suburb, we've had almost 70 inches of snow this season. It's almost unbearable. One good thing? One secret thing? I could eat pizza 3 meals/day, 7 days/week. I love all kinds!

  10. What a neat idea! I'm a fairly recent lurker, so everything's new...I'm a chocoholic and coffee aficionado, and this was the first xmas I gave almost everyone handknits :) Thanks for the opportunity!

  11. I love those bracelets. Would like to be entered in your giveaway. Something you didn't know about me - bugs don't bother me. I don't really seek them out, but I don't mind them. I won't kill an insect if I can help it - I always just gently take it outside. The exception to this is scorpions. I was stung my one of those when we first moved to Arizona - mighty painful and so now I don't like scorpions at all. Cockroaches are also abhorrent but I'm fine with other bugs - big and small. Have a great week.

hmmmm...you know me pretty well, but did you know I saw the Beatles on their first tour of the US in '64? (Yes, I'm THAT old!!!) Does being an old hippie count extra? (I saw Janis Joplin, too, a month before she OD-ed)

  13. I've never heard of knitting needle bracelets, but these are very pretty! And I have never eaten ribs - something that someone in the South might not be able to fathom. (Been a vegetarian since I was 16.)

  15. Tracey, thanks so much for wanting to give us winter tired souls some sunshine. The comments are hysterical. It's nice to read details I wouldn't typically know about bloggers whose blogs I lurk on.

Something you don't know about me -- I've never eaten a real burger. I've had burgers made of beans, and turkey, but have never eaten a beef burger. My family and friends think that's extremely weird. Some of my co-workers call it "un-American". LOLOL!

  16. Thanks for the offer. I live in Kentucky but I'm from South Carolina originally. I have been knitting a long time but it is so much more fun now with the wide variety of beautiful yarns.

  17. Those bracelets are absolutely perfect and so is the yarn!! Something you don't know about me? Mmh... Growing up in Germany it was mandatory to take English in school (still is by the way). It started in 5th grade and ended when you left school. My English wasn't very good, as a matter of fact, one of my teachers told my mom I was hopeless. Wish I could see her now... ;-)

  21. This is fun. I have enjoyed reading other peoples comments. Please leave me out of the draw as I haven't had to endure the extreme cold. Something you don't know about me. My first car was a VW and have secretly craved to own one again.

  22. This is a really nice giveaway. Something that you don't know about me is that a seagull bit my toe while I was lying on the beach this summer. Some kids had been throwing Cheetos to feed the gulls, and I guess one of them mistook my toe for a snack food.

  25. These bracelets are really nice, Tracey and Mike! I'd love one like that! :)

So let me think of something about me...
I always say I don't knit. But I did knit once, when I was a small girl. The only thing I ever knit was supposed to become a sweater for my doll. I started with white, then added black and pink. It was a square shape, and since I had no pattern I had no idea where to go from there. Then I gave up on the project since I realized it was never to become a sweater for my doll.
I did much better hand-sewing doll clothes. Maybe now that I have a niece I'll try crocheting clothes for her dolls!

  27. Hello! I'm brand new around here, so I'd venture to say you don't know much about me yet. How about this: I received a new baking book for my birthday and I'm trying to make one thing from it every week or two. Next up: yellow cupcakes with chocolate ganache. Mmm...

  28. What a lovely giveaway! The knitting needle bracelet is sweet! Something about me - I keep a Jersey milk cow, and she and I have just gone on break until she calves in May.

  29. Hi, Tracey,
How elegant your creation is. You and your Mike are artisans.
Looks as though some mighty hammering was involved.

Something about me that very few know
Is that beginning in junior high I played the violin
    After three or so years
I realized that my skills weren't much different than after the first year.
    Can't sing either
    Hugs

  34. Hi Tracey, I would love to enter your contest! Those bracelets are wonderful what a thoughtful gesture. Something that you may not know about me...is that I lived in Switzerland for a year in a beautiful village called Rhinefelden by the Rhine River. There were lush, forested walking trails nearby and exploring them, along with the ever present song of the rushing river; was one of the happiest times of my life!. Thank you again for this fun contest! With Love, Delisa :)
