YARN ALONG

Unexpected
intrusions
of beauty.
This is what
life is.

Super chunky yarn,
Size 15 needles,
and a day to sit and
knit.  I am on a roll
casting on and off
the Seed Pattern Stitch
Berets in lots of pretty
colors.

Just downloaded The
13th Gift to read for
book club, I'll let you
know what I think.

SPRING:: A YARN ALONG

I am doing something I learnt early to do,
I am paying attention to small beauties—
as if it were our duty to find things to love,
to bind ourselves to this world.

I have two projects that
are getting equal attention
this week, the first is super-
secret knitting for a spring
swap I am taking part in. I
am thrilled with the ideas I
have come up with and just as
as soon as I can share the details
with you I will.

I knit a pair of duck socks
using the baby sock pattern
from this book and then thought
they really needed a cute hat
to go along with them so I
am keeping my fingers crossed
that I have enough yarn to finish.

I am still reading The Homecoming of Samuel Lake
and while I am enjoying the book I did
have to skim over a few pages that dealt
with the mistreatment of an animal, something
I can not stomach; my hope is that that will
not come up again or else this will be a
book I do not finish.

YARN ALONG

Your simple daily acts of
service may not seem like
much in and of themselves,
but when considered collectively
they become just like the
one-twelve teaspoon of honey
contributed by a single honey
bee to the hive.

~ M. Russell Ballard

Christmas is 79 days away so
along with the return of the
heat to the south I put away my
blanket knitting and pulled out
yarn to knit a few scarves for
the single young men on my
list who need easy to care for
items. The pattern is an easy
four rows to memorize and
on size 10.5 needles things
are moving along quickly.

The Honey Thief is still on my
night stand and it's a book I am
thoroughly enjoying.

YARN ALONG

Why did she make things?
Well, she enjoyed it, of course;
but it also somehow helped
her remember who she was
and where she came from

~ Aubon

 My Aise' is slowly growing,
a very easy pattern, nice to
pick up and work a few rows
after a busy day.

There are also socks on the
needles, such joy in my world.

Still reading Joan of Arc and
now understand why this was
Mark Twain's favorite book, it's
that good.
