HAVE YOU NOTICED?

There are no accidents and no coincidences.
Every sign you notice, every word you hear
spoken, every color, every scent, every sound,
every event and situation is the Universe
speaking to you, and you are the only one
who knows their relevance to you, and what
the communication is saying. Use your eyes
to see! Use your ears to listen! Use all of your
senses, because you are receiving cosmic
communication through them all.

~Creative Novella

Have you had a good week?
Have you taken the time to
pause, to pay attention and
notice the moments that
make up your days, your
week, your life?

Have you smelled
pretty flowers and
marveled at the color?

Watched the darkness
fade away to light?
Listened to the birds
talk?
Walked barefoot in
the soft, green clover?
Watched clouds dance
across the sky and felt
the wind on your face?
Found a ladybug
trying to get comfortable?
Realized just how cool
your cat's eyes really are?
Spent time watching
ants moving about
their day?

Enjoyed time with a
loved one, if only for
a few hours?

Told your 'people'
you love them?
Been awed by the moon?

Fallen asleep listening to
the insects chirp as a cool
breeze blows in an open
window?

Been thrilled that your
almost twenty year old
rosemary plant flowers
often and feeds the bees?
Looked a bee right
in the eye?
Noticed the fuzzy down
on the back of a bubble bee?

Spied  fungi that
needs help to exist?
Wondered at the
age of a tree?

Noticed that your allergies
will soon be a mess, but
this year you are prepared?

 Have you fed your
creative side?

Your body?

Listened to quiet
and prayed?

It has been a good week
in my world, a good life,
how about you?

Much love,
Tracey

A PERFECT FALL WEEK

I step outside and the chilly air tightens the
skin on my bare arms. Summer has ended
all too quickly, and some of the leaves on the
trees have already started to burn with the
colors of fall. Fall colors.... so bright and intense
and beautiful. It's like nature is trying to fill
you up with color, to saturate you so you can
stockpile it before winter turns everything
muted and dreary. ~

It's been a great week to live in the south:
the weather has been perfect this week,
as in I had to wear a sweater on my walk,
so I have been spending as much time
as I can outside, working in the vegetable
garden, the herb bed, walking and just
enjoying the fact that the humidity is
gone and so are the bugs. The grass has
been given it's last cut, the wood has
been cut for the woodstove and now I am
waiting on cold weather... I'm more
than ready.

[Home] schooling is going well, we have
completed our 50th day. Alex read
The Grapes of Wrath and I read
To Kill A Mockingbird as a read aloud,
[it's a longtime favorite of mine],
then we spend one afternoon with
a huge bowl of popcorn and watched
the movie. I was glad to hear Alex say
he liked the book so much more than
the movie. There are now more books
to read and another movie afternoon
in our near future.

Dinner this week has seen a lot of
soups and this one was a big hit.
Tonight there will be this,  and
I have plans to try this and this
soon. There is just something
about a pot of soup simmering
on the stove that fill me with
contentment.

Bette Davis [the cat] has settled in
and is quite at home here for which
I am thankful, the first day I wasn't
too sure how it was all going to work
out, but the dogs seem to tolerate her
and she adores them.

I am looking forward to a quiet and restful
weekend. I hope whatever you have
planned brings you comfort and joy,
and peace.

Love,
Tracey

A SWEET SMELLING YARN ALONG

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers,
as the human heart, imagining itself
alone and unwatched, feels most deeply
in the night-time, so seems it as if the
flowers, in musing modesty, await the
mantling eventide ere they give
themselves up wholly to feeling,
and breathe forth their sweetest
odours. Flow forth, ye perfumes
of my heart, and seek beyond
these mountains the dear one
of my dreams!

~Heinrich Heine

I have enjoyed wearing my
poncho so much that I decided
I needed another one, and
am thinking of maybe knitting
a third [in black].

Churchmouse's Yarns and Teas Pattern
is easy to follow and the end
result is so much fun to wear.
I have had women stop me on
the street and ask about it. One
elderly woman even ask if she
could try it on...now to me
that is a great compliment!

This go round I am using
Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool in grey
and will crochet a picot edge
in lavender.

All my reading this week has
been on audio as I have been
busy [as a bee ;)] pulling weeds
in the garden. I am listening
to The Distant Hours that I
first heard about on a past
Yarn Along. I am completely
drawn into the story and find
myself staying to work longer
than scheduled just so I can
listen to more of the story.

LIVING MY DREAM

I learned this, at least, by my experiment;
that if one advances confidently in the
direction of his dreams, and endeavors
to live the life which he has imagined,
he will meet with a success unexpected
in common hours.... In proportion as
he simplifies his life, the laws of the
universe will appear less complex,
and solitude will not be solitude,
nor poverty poverty, nor weakness
weakness.

~Henry David Thoreau

This week...

I am almost done with my
tax work, thank goodness.
What? I can't be the only
one who waits until the
last minute can I?

The girls have moved to
a bigger coop and are
enjoying running through
the grass and trying out
their gliding. I think
their little fuzzy faces
are so sweet.

I am keeping a close
watch on the blue berry
bushes, still a little while
to wait. I am hoping for
a better crop than last year
as I have been out of berries
since December.

The peas are almost ready
and the spinach is being
enjoyed daily along with
lots of parsley that made it
through this past winter.
Green juice everyday is
what I've been living on!

Wild flowers are covering
the fields that haven't been
plowed and yesteday I spotted
an indigo bunting in the yard.
We are suppose to be 76 on
Monday. Yes, it's spring.

I learned a new cast on
and while it took me a little
bit to get it once I did I think
it may be my new favorite.
I am test knitting Liz's
Clyde Bonnet and love
this pattern, it is so darling.

I hope your week has been
everything you wanted and
you have a super weekend.

Love,
Tracey

YARN ALONG

"Every domain of human
experience can serve as
the laboratory of faith."

~James S. Spiegel

I have learned something about myself
while knitting away on this Tiny Tea Leaves,
I do not like knitting button bands, at all.
I have knit and re knit the button band
three times and it is just going to have to do.
Next time I knit a cardigan I think I will
incorporate the button band into the body
as I knit and then there just won't be any
problems.

All that is left to knit is one sleeve,
sew the buttons on and block.
I found the cutest little duck buttons
at my LYS yesterday and think
they will look so sweet on the cardigan,
what do you think?

I am still plugging away on my
Learning to Weave lessons and
having a great time.

I am also reading from my book
shelve and have put myself on
restriction from Amazon until
I read all the books I have here
that haven't been read yet. I was
putting the newest order away
the other day and realized I have
rows of books that haven't been
finished, some not even opened,
and yet I still buy more. No more.
I am going to read and enjoy what
I have here and then we will see
if I can control myself when I
visit a book store or browse Amazon.
My first book from the shelf is
Gum Geckos and God. It is a book
that helps you talk with children
about Christian doctrine in a light
and often funny way and I am
thoroughly enjoying it.

I can't wait to see what you have
been up to this week. Have a
beautiful Wednesday.

Joining with Ginny and all the
Yarn Alonger's.
