Now is the time to unite the soul
and the world. Now is the time to
see the sunlight dancing as one
with the shadows.
~Rumi
These summer days are full,
but in the evenings there
is quiet, allowing a moment
to once again pick up my
shawl, enjoying the touch
of this yarn as I knit a few
rows, taking my time:: slip,
knit, yarn over, pass stitch
over:: the repetitive calm that
comes when I knit, exhaling
slowing, letting the peace gently
settle over me, soothing.
Reading is a book recommended
by Amanda, once again she
is dead on, such a remarkable soul.

I am finding calm with my evening knitting too. Your shawl is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour shawl is beautiful, Tracey. That quiet that soothes from the repetitiveness of a pattern easily remembered is like a balm for the soul, yes? It is the same for me when I crochet. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shawl Tracey! I have picked up my knitting again after a long hiatus from it. How I missed the process! I am easing back into it with a simple wash cloth but have grand plans for more projects. It feels good to be "back" with my yarn & needles!
ReplyDeleteLove that shawl!!!
ReplyDeletelove the shawl and the yarn, do you like the yarn?? Never seen that brand before. Yes, I do love Amanda's recommends.....It's on the list.
ReplyDeleteI love that yarn especially the name and the butterfly photo. I followed one in the woods for ages yesterday. It keep fluttering around me but as soon as I tried to photograph it, it just flew away. Your shawl is knitting up beautifully. I must check out that book now.

ReplyDeleteJust reading that stitch pattern is relaxing. That shawl is gorgeous. And so is the photo of that butterfly. But then again - all your photos are beautiful! We are going to have to have a conversation about photography :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pattern Tracey- you are such a quick knitter too- seems like you have something new on your needles each week.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty shawl!
I look forward to evenings to pick up my knitting...it would be so easy to sit inside in the AC to knit, but I save it for evenings.
ReplyDeletebeautiful shawl and I agree knitting is my calm at the end of the day!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a very cozy shawl Tracey! Thanks for the book recommendation, too. I can never get enough of those. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight, a truly beautiful shawl.
ReplyDeleteI love that stitch. Combined with the color, it reminds me of the weave of the security blanket I carried nearly everywhere with me as a child. Beautiful, friend.
ReplyDeletesitting here with my college friends....making our yearly booklists....and just added this one!!!! (loving the shawl, too!)
ReplyDeleteYour knitting is always a work of art - nice quote too xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quote you shared today! Poor tattered butterfly:( Looks like she's made good use of her wings, though. And your shawl is looking absolutely wonderful! That stitch you are knitting looks unforgiving so you must be paying very close attention. Wishing you many more quiet, relaxing evenings to come. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat textured shawl looks wonderful. It's like knitty moth wings.
ReplyDeleteMy evenings have been filled with knitting too. I understand exactly what you mean by the meditative quality of knitting. Your shawl looks lovely!
