WEEKENDING

Follow your inner moonlight;
don't hide the madness.

~Allen Ginsberg

The weather put on hold any trip
to the beach I had planned so I
decided to make jam for the blog
swap I am participating in this
summer. Since I am still picking
blueberries my thoughts went
to blueberry lemon honey jam,
good stuff, even eaten just off
the spoon ;)

I ate my first fig of the season,
not from my tree, a gift from
a thoughtful son. I am hoping
with all the rain that is falling
my figs will ripen soon.

I cast on a new knitting project
just because I've been waiting
to knit this pattern and it's time,
even though there are still projects
waiting for me to finish. Sometimes
you just need that feeling that
casting on brings, exhale.

The clouds moved out long enough
that we were able to sit outside
last night and enjoy the beautiful
super moon that hung in the sky,
just amazing. I practiced taking
photos, playing around with my
camera, it was fun and I learned
a lot.

Today the clouds, thunder and rain
are back so I will be hibernating in
the house which I don't really mind.  I
have a blog to 'stalk' since I received
the name of my swap person, some
knitting to do and a game to watch.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Weekending with Karen.

  1. Beautiful images as usual Tracey! How very thoughtful of your son to bring you a fig; hope your trees give you produce soon.

Here's to an exciting game! Who are you supporting?

  2. I think the clouds, thunder and rain in your area is making it's way here. Hot and muggy today, but storms and cooler temps in the forecast for Tuesday - Thursday. High's "only" in the upper 70's which is unheard of for our area this time of year... We got a game to watch today, too. Hopefully "my" team will win this one. ;-)

And figs...oh my goodness! To be able to have your own figs! I hope yours ripen soon!

Enjoy your new knitting project...and that exhale. ;)

  10. I didn't sign up for the blog swap this go round, just too busy right now with summer. We saw no moon last night... just massive thunderstorm clouds. Which sometimes are just as amazing.

  13. I think we are getting your weather up here for a few days. We desperately need the rain though so I won't complain. Your blueberry jam sounds so good! Sometimes you really do need to cast on something new. I can't wait to see what it turns out to be.

  14. It's going to be a stormy week up in the northeast, too, but I don't mind; I 've got my knitting and books and plenty to do indoors.I can't wait to see your Aise shawl all knit up--what a gorgeous pattern.I love the yarn you chose for it. I find myself choosing *color* over neutrals more and more these days. Homemade blueberry jam (or anything blueberry) sounds yummy. I hope your figs ripen soon, but it sure was nice of your son to give you a foretaste of fig heaven!

Oh, that moon photo! It is stunning--you got such a good, deep, black contrast around it.

  15. I wish that I was in that blog hop too...just for the chance to get some of that jam. Sorry your outing had to be postponed. We were expecting storms at the weekend too but we just had a little rain no thunder and lightening. Sounds like you have a good day planned.
Have fun and keep safe and dry.
