YARN ALONG

It is a good idea to be alone in a
garden at dawn or dark so that
all its shy presence may haunt
you and possess you in a reverie
of suspended thought.

~James Douglas

The temperature has dropped,
rain is steadily falling,
vegetable stew is bubbling
on the stove making
the kitchen extra cozy,
it's a great day to knit.
I have one more repeat
on my shawl, maybe two
if I have enough yarn,
and then I am going to
learn to cast off using
this method.

I started a new book,
A House in the Sky.
It is the true story of
Amanda Linhout and
her tale of being held
prisoner in Somalia for
460 days. I was hooked
on the first page and
have enjoyed every
page since.

  2. love all the rosemary photos! I bet it smelled wonderful as you messed around in it! isn't knitting sort of like a good book...the excitement of starting, the joy and getting wound up in the story---the suspense of wondering what will happen next (have enough yarn?) and the satisfaction of a great ending? l love the shawl....it's going to be a beauty!

  3. Rosemary -- my son's favorite herb. We transplanted ours this spring and it is enjoying it's new location. Need to make a few cuttings to hang in the window for cooking. Beautiful knit, Tracey! Such a thrill to be on the home stretch of a project! You will share, right? :)

  4. What beautiful pictures! I'm so glad the tempertures have dropped for you! Isn't it wonderful to have a nice, cozy day in the house with knitting, soup on the stove & rain falling outside? I'm loving these gorgeous fall days we're having but I secretly want just one day with the rain coming down so we can hunker in the house & be all nice and cozy!

  7. Such a pretty shawl. I hate the feeling of hoping you have enough yarn. I'm doing it right now myself. I will have to try that bind off.

  17. I love rosemary, just rubbed between the hands, beautiful. I really must get my Christmas knitting finished before the warm weather kicks in, I am so slow!

  19. I hadn't seen that method of casting off before...useful when you need a stretchy finish.

I love your sky photographs, but I always have my head in the clouds. The rosemary looks gorgeous too, I can almost smell it. I have a pot outside the kitchen door...it's probably my most used herb. I can't roast a chicken without it and I love it baked on top of chiabatta bread...although I haven't done that for a while.

Your book sounds interesting and such a pretty shawl I look forward to seeing it finished.

    Have a lovely weekend.
