~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Joining with Ginny.
I have been having the best
time knitting wee little baby
items! I finished the soaker
I started last week and even
managed to knit another one.
I am now working on a little
pebble vest. All this baby knitting
is new to me since I didn't
knit when the wee one was
born. The knitting is for
the Lima bean in the ultra
sound picture. No, I am
not the one who is pregnant!
This baby will be my second
grandchild and the first child
for one of my son's and
his wife. I am just a little
bit excited!
This week for reading has
been devoted to school.
We will be starting after
Labor Day and since I
took this whole summer
off it's time to get busy.
I am working on lesson
plans and using
All through the Ages
to put together reading
lists. I have used this
book for several years
and find it very helpful
in correlating literature
reading to our history
lessons.
What have you been
up to this week?

ReplyDeleteby the way, i forgot to mention that yarn i am using for my scarf? it's Lorna's Laces Honor and it's incredibly soft and lovely to work with!
Ooooh, I love that green yarn! I just started knitting again this week, after such a long break that I had to re-teach myself knit and purl! You've inspired me and I'm working on a simple little winter hat for my Hazel.
ReplyDeleteThe green you're using is just delicious! Baby knits are always so fun. Congrats on the second grandbaby (and to your son and his wife).
ReplyDeleteYour knitting is beautiful as always, I love to knit baby items because they are speedy!! Congrats on the baby to be, I bet you have tons of ideas of what to knit!!
ReplyDeleteYou are keeping busy...I love the yarn you are using in the picture above...I have never knitted for a baby...maybe someday:)

I have to get back into mental gear for our homeschooling year too. I think I just might need another few months of summer... :) Thanks for the All Through the Ages recommendation. For some reason, it sounds very familiar.
ReplyDeleteBaby items are fun to knit. I'm sort of blue about that - I wish I had knitted up a storm when my kids were little too - now when I knit a baby item, I wonder who to give it to. Grandkids are in the far far far future...
I love "Lima Bean", what a sweet term of endearment, will it stick you think?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on grandbaby 2, so exciting!! Your knitting looks impeccable, as usual!!
xx oo
Love that green. I've got to knit a pebble vest, I do love them.
ReplyDeleteschool. taming a 3yo on a wild streak. cooking. sweating. wishing for autumn weather.
ReplyDeleteps: love that green!
Congratulations on expecting another grandchild, Tracey! How Exciting!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your Henry VIII suggesion- one of my favorite time periods to read about. :)
Congratulations on the new grand baby! How fun to be knitting for a sweet grandchild. Love the color of the yarn, this will be one lucky baby to have nice hand knitted things!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Tracey, on the newest grandbaby! How exciting for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI love that green! Congrats on the little Lima Bean! And, to answer your question on my Yarn Along post, I have been knitting seriously about three years. Total, about four. This really isn't that hard, as you have to make a toe and a heel in a sock anyway and the middle bits are just straight knitting for now! :)
ReplyDeleteOh...baby knitting is so fun! Congrats on your new grandchild! I have looked at several different soaker patterns, but have not started one yet. I'll take a look at yours...thanks for the link! This week....my big girls went back to school. So it's just me and my 3 year old during the days until the baby comes!
ReplyDeleteThat book looks fantastic! My husband & I started reading our way thru history back in 1999. Such fun! Would love to start it with our son & this seems the perfect resource. Congrats on your 2nd grandbaby! I didn't knit when my son was tiny, either...so happy I have wee nieces & nephews (and who knows...maybe in a year or two, one of my own ;-) to knit for now!
ReplyDeletesuch fun! baby knits are so gratifying (and always so appreciated). we are enjoying the last of summer here, bike riding, hiking and swimming in the blue ocean!
ReplyDeleteI love knitting soakers. They are so gratifying and so small. Congratulations on the new grandbaby!
ReplyDeleteWe're starting school the day after Labor Day as well. I think I'm ready...
More like...I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...
Congrats on the new addition! Isn't knitting baby things fun? That green shade is so clear and pretty...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - that's the best kind of knitting. Love the green yarn!
ReplyDeleteKnitting baby items is such fun isn't it! This week has been a busy one as I had to go to work. Day off tomorrow. Yipee.xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your second grandbaby!! I think knitting for my grandchildren will be so much fun. You really seem to know your homeschooling plan well. I am just so scared...
ReplyDeleteYAY! Congratulations on the second grandbaby!!! I am LOVING that green. This week has been going by so fast...I even missed the yarn along! :(
