YARN ALONG

I am still very slowly
working on my raglan cardi.
Since the yarn is so tedious
I decided it really was ok
to have more than one
knit project at a time.
[I have learned that I am
a Type-A knitter: something
I am working on].
I decided to work a very
simple string produce bag
for the new season. I
cast on a few dozen stitches,
joined and am just knitting
around. Very simple and very
relaxing. When I think it's long
enough, I'll decrease to make
a bottom, make two handles,
and have a new bag for vegetables.

I enjoyed The Yarn Harlot so much
that I ordered Free-Range Knitter
when I placed my last book order.
 Stephanie Pearl-McPhee has become
one of my new favorite authors.
I love her style of casual writing
and how she can make me
laugh out loud. I have plans to
read everything that she has or ever
will write. xx

  1. Oh it is so nice to slip into some easy projects while others are giving us headaches, yes? The produce bag looks so cool! And, as usual, I love the yarn you picked :).

The two books I just won are Gil McNeil books--which I hear are good, but I keep hearing about the ones you are reading and that has peaked my interest too! I guess I better get busy...
    Have a great day Tracey!!!

  5. Oh what a fantastic idea!

I'm putting in a request for this book and the other one at the library - I clicked through to Amazon's description of Yarn Harlot & I think I just *have* to read it! Thanks for the recommendation!

  6. I have two of the Yarn Harlot's books and they're so fun. I love Knitting Rules and I use her basic sock pattern all the time.
I love the yarn on the needles in your picture, looks serene!

you should really try the enterlac youtube tutorials - it looks complicated but it really isn't! :)
    ...
the book looks lovely :) and what a fun project - the bag - I love projects when you just knit as much as you want - no rules, no counting of rows, just knitting :) lovely :)

good luck with your projects :)

  8. Gorgeous! I have not read these books but have seen them on Amazon. My library is sorely lacking in hip, new books.
Can't wait to show you my knee socks (Ann Budd pattern) that I have been working on, very slowly, since November!

  9. Love the veggie bag, about how many stitches did you cast on, what size needles? Would you suggest a cotton yard for washing? Your blog is peaceful. Loved the poem, it hit home. Have a wonderful day and it is always good to have a project to work on at your own pace. Bee57

  11. How are you enjoying having mroe than 1 project going? I used to be a 1 project person too, but after branching out a bit I've found I'm happiest with 3- something larger like a sweater, a sock, and something that doesn't take much thought to knit so I can knit while chatting or playing board games with my boys or something.

*Love* Stephanie Pearl-McPhee! Excellent book choice. :)

  12. I love the produce bag! I need to make a few of those. So nice to have a break from the frustrating bamboo yarn. Maybe it was you who got me on to the Pearl-McPhee books! Glad to hear you're enjoying her other titles!

  20. I love the title of that book. And what a beautiful produce bag. It's nice sometimes to have a mindless knitting project that you can work on when you feel like it. I did the same this week. I needed a break from more complicated stuff.
