A NEW WEEKEND

This was a wonderful weekend.
I've never seen this one before.

 [Those ears!]

It's been a fabulous weekend here
and my heart is so happy.

Friday evening we had a terrible
storm.. rain, wind and even a bit
of hail, but my power only went
off for about 15 minutes and then
all was calm; others were not
as lucky, but now I think all is
well.

Saturday I spent time doing
some house loving and then
spent had time at the local
thrift store browsing. [I found
a belt], got the food shopping
out of the way and picked up
sandwiches to eat at home.
I've been binge watching
Nurse Jackie and knitting away
on Christmas socks, staying up
way past my bedtime, but it's
summer time right? :)

Sunday we rode inland to
visit our son and his wife,
collect firewood and play
with the marsh tacky and
the donkey's. I had a blast
learning to drive the little cart,
and while I had decided not
to bring home anything
else I had to take care of I
really think I need a donkey
or two.

Another son and his wife came
for dinner and we celebrated
the man who makes our family
whole. Now I'm off to savor
the last of this weekend with
some more knitting and a little
Netflix.

WEEKENDING

She loved the sea..

She liked the sharp
salty smell of the air,
and the vastness
of the horizons
bounded only by a vault
of azure sky above,

it made her feel small,
but free as well.

~ George R.R. Martin

So many ups and downs these
last few days, but then I guess
that is life right?

There has been rain, and sun,
time at home, and time spent
going to the eye doctor's, at
first just for my annual check
up and then to check for a deeper
issue.

As many of you know I have
Graves Disease, something I
was diagnosed with in my early
20's.  Along with all the issues this
disease brings, it now looks like
I have glaucoma. Sigh. I am just
thankful I have a great doctor
and we will stay on top of this.
And this next week my new glasses
will be in so that is exciting.

I have spent the last few days
knitting away, I am almost done
with the wee blanket and today
after the rain moved out My Mike
and I took a drive to the shore, my
happy place, where we walked for
hours. My favorite scene was
discovering a palmetto tree decorated
with bits of nature. Oh, and the birds,
I love watching the sea birds.

Dinner was leftover lasagna that I
made last night and in just a bit
I am going to sit down with my
knitting and watch The Martian
with my family.

I hope your weekend have been filled
with love and joy and you are ready
for a great week ahead.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is the aware,
balanced acceptance of
the present experience.
It isn't more complicated
than that.
Practice mindfulness.

2016!

My word for the year...
mindfulness....
and I am more than
determined to make
sure I am aware and
paying attention to all
the moments that come
my way.

The first weekend of the
new year I have hiked,
and been awed at my world.
I seem to have developed a
love all of things fungi and
can't help but notice them
when I am out.

There has been knitting, always
knitting...a sock, a wrap. Making
lists of future projects. Maybe just
knitting from my stash? Well, after
I use my Christmas gift cards, but
we'll see, although truth be told
I have more than enough yarn to
last me awhile.

Cooking collards and blackeyed peas
to eat on the first day of the new year.
Do you eat a special dish to bring in
a new year?

Babysitting granddogs for the weekend
and getting to visit with son and
grandson for a few hours.

Talking with my Emerson and hearing
all about her Christmas break. She is
getting so big and is now a skateboarder.

I am looking forward to seeing what this
year brings for all of us...Happy New Year
my dear friends!

WEEKENDING IN DECEMBER

Awakened souls strengthen and encourage
Each other by their friendships and interchange
of thoughts. They create a network of light
over the planet And spin threads of mutual
upliftment and inspiration.

~ Vida Reed Stone

Oh this December is turning out
to be quite strange, it feels more
like April than December!

I have spent time hiking around the
property and sitting in the sun knitting.

I took a trip to Charleston, SC to do
a little Christmas shopping and was
pleasantly surprised to hear my name
being called in Barnes and Nobles; a
long time friend I was in high school
with recognized my voice and stopped
to chit chat for a few moments. I do
love happy moments shared with friends!

I picked up a few skeins of huge yarn
and a pair of size 50 needles to knit a
few chunky cowls. What a workout these
needles give you, hand me size 2 anytime.
While I finished the cowl in no time, it was
not the relaxing knitting I love at all.

My oldest son and his family surprised me
with a visit so I had some baby loving time,
made my heart happy.

I received a photo of Emerson in her Olie knit
hat. They were visiting an animal manger festival
that include not only goats, but reindeer! .

Tammy on  Instagram {I'm traceyclover}
posted that she had a coloring book on order,
a knitting coloring book, and I was so
intrigued that I was off to Amazon to take
a look, my copy will be here in a few days.
I wanted to let you know incase like me
you had no idea this existed.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY

Completely
and
perfectly
and
incandescently
happy

~ Mrs.Darcy
 The skies have been so
pretty these last few days
and I have found myself
outside more than in.
 Long walks and sitting
in the sunshine to knit.
A trip to the Post Office gave me
a chance to admire the old buildings
across the street and daydream of
days long ago. I love old buildings,
you?
I pulled a favorite book from the shelf
and made a five quart crock full of lacto-
fermented kimchi. Now the hard part
is waiting for it to be ready.
 My St.Anne rose is still
blooming...in December!
I signed up for a swap dear Donna
was hosting and my gifts arrived
yesterday from the sweet Carole,
and the best part is I made a new
friend.
My Taproot magazine also arrived and I am slowly
making my way through it's pages and furiously
knitting away on Christmas gifts.

 Salads, along with fresh fruits
roasted vegetables are the only
foods gracing my table. I managed
to consume quite a bit of foods
over the last few weeks that I know
I shouldn't eat so it's back to basics
for me. As I grow older I find my
reactions to what I eat has grown
stronger, but still I lapse and have
to learn the hard way.

I receive a photo of my daughter
and son in love, they went to the
ball! I miss them, but they are
having such a grand time so
that makes me happy.

I wish you all joyous and
productive days and we
begin a new week.
