SILVERLEAF IN GREY

In the rhythm of
the needles there
is music for the
soul!

I cast on September 1, the same
day Hurricane Hermine was making
it's way from the Florida toward
South Carolina.

As the feeder bands came through
and the wind picked up speed, even
managing to up root my favorite pecan
tree and lay it on the powerline, I knit.
As the storm blew past and things calmed
down, I knit.

By Monday evening I was casting off
and on Tuesday morning there was
a good soak and a gentle blocking.

Silverleaf in Grey!

The yarn a gift from my family in
Germany, together with the simple
elegance of the pattern has made
this knit something I will treasure
for years to come.

Thank you Lisa Hannes for sharing
such a beautiful and fun pattern.

TOMORROW IS THE DAY

Knitting my not, on the surface,
seem relevant to engines that
run the world, but at its essence
it is quite vital. For knitting,
which can express so many
emotions, most often expresses
love. And when all else is lost,
love is what most often stays
with us.

Hi and welcome to the Silverleaf knit along.
I have gathered my materials and am
looking forward to September 1 so I can
cast on. How about you?

I am using Wolle Rodel Baby Alpaka in
the colorway grey. While the pattern calls
for a sport weight yarn I am using a dk
weight which I am okay with.I am also
about 36 yards shy of the recommended
yardage, but as it's a shawl I think I can
make it work, we'll see. :)

I will be posting updates here as I can and I
hope you will do the same.
I will also be on Instagram [TraceyClover]
using the #silverleafkal.

Please remember that this is a very relaxed
kal, no pressure or stress, just have fun.
If you come across a problem just send me
an email [address in my profile] or a
message on IG and I will respond as soon
as I can. We are expecting some terrible
weather on Friday, but fingers crossed I
keep power, if not then I will be in touch
when it's back on.

Much love and happy knitting,
Tracey

SILVER LEAF KNIT ALONG

In the rhythm of the
needles there is music
for the soul

The day the pattern for Silverleaf
was released I knew I wanted to
knit it. After browsing around on
Jimmy Beans Wool I decided to
order Cascade Venezia Sport in
White Heaven, and cast on as soon
as it arrived.

The pattern is easy to follow and
even the Leaf Lace Section is not
hard as long as you pay attention
to yarn overs [something I failed
to do and had to rip back].

This first shawl was never meant for
me, it is going to my Mike's Aunt, but
I loved knitting it so much I have
decided to knit it again and thought
you might like to join me in a little
kal.

The KAL will begin on September 1
and end whenever you are finished,
no pressure, no stress, just the joy
of knitting something pretty along
with others. Have a problem or a question
with the pattern? Just ask and we
can help because I have found knitters
to be the most wonderful of souls.

The pattern calls for  approximately
550 yards of sport weight yarn on
a size 6 needle, but you can easily
adjust the pattern to other weights
and yardages.

For the KAL I will be using
Wolle Rodel Baby Alpaka which is
a dk weight and as I only have 504
yards I will be adjusting the pattern
just a bit.

You can post here or on Instagram
 [TraceyClover] which is where I
can be found most days. Please
tag your post #silverleafkal so we
can all ooh and ahh over your
Silverleaf.

Much love,
Tracey
