YARN ALONG

"There were a lot of things
I planned to do, then I picked
 up a book".

I finished my hat,
a fun little knit,
and a great way
to use up a wee
ball of yarn and
add another gift
to my Christmas
chest.

Next up?
This sweet little
cardigan for
Porter and then
I think these
and this to go
along with it.
He will be quite
dashing at
baby school.
Flat Kevin approves.

Gave up reading
moved on to something
far more intriguing,
and am much happier.

SOFT WORLD

"It is what I was born for-to look,
to listen, to lose myself inside this
soft world. "

~ Mary Oliver

It has been such a peaceful,
beautiful week.

The lilies are blooming,
and the blueberries are beginning
to slowly ripen.

I have been getting in over 10, 000
steps before breakfast which makes
me want to walk more and more just
to beat my number each day.

I discovered on lone apple growing
on the apple tree and I am keeping
a close eye on it..squirrels beware!

I have introduced dairy back into my
life and have been snacking on 'mock
cinnabon....cottage cheese, a drizzle of
maple syrup, lots of cinnamon and a
few tablespoons of chopped pecans.

Homemade toothpaste is a first for me,
but I must say I like it. It doesn't foam
like 'store bought' toothpaste, but I do
like how it cleans my teeth.

I knit a wee pair of socks for Porter,
and then woke very early so we
could drive two hours to deliver
them in person and to soak up a little
baby love.  Porter really is a sweet,
happy baby.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Much love,
Tracey

PORTER

“There are a few things in life so beautiful they hurt:
swimming in the ocean while it rains, reading alone
in empty libraries, the sea of stars that appear when
you’re miles away from the neon lights of the city,
bars after 2am, walking in the wilderness, all the phases
of the moon, the things we do not know about the universe,
and you.”

~ Beau Taplin

[new photo that I received today]

This weekend has been sitting
on the shore watching waves
and birds, knitting and reading,
and although those are my
favorite things to do, the
best part of this weekend was
being there to wish my newest
grandchild happy birthday!

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS

It's the little things
that make life
Wonderful!

We had a baby shower this
weekend, a baby shower for
the newest grand that will be
here soon. The weekend started
out rainy, but by noon the sun
was shining, the air was warm,
and the sand gnats were out in
full force. I spent most of the
night holding the sweetest little
four month old who drooled
all over me and eventually fell
asleep in my arms; I wanted
to bring him home. Oh, and
I ate cake, really good cake.

I have spent today sitting in the
sun, knitting, finishing a book,
[it wasn't the greatest], starting
a new one, talking on the phone
with my youngest sister and
just enjoying the peace that always
accompanies my Sunday's.

BREATHING DREAMS

breathing dreams
like
air.

~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

I knit a blanket,
this blanket to be precise.
Jared Flood of course,
but then you probably
guessed that.
I used this yarn
in the color Kumlien's  gull
Oh so smooshy and soft.
Each stitch carefully knit
as I dream of the day my
newest grand will arrive
and lay his sweet little head
down on a blanket filled
with love.
