are not actually going anywhere. However
far or long you plod, you are always in the
same place: in the woods.'

been working on for the past
two weeks has been cast off,
washed, dried and ironed to
kill the acrylic. [This is the
way I do it].
There is love in each and
every stitch and I hope when
this gift is received all that
love will be felt.
I'm still reading A Walk in the Woods
and love it!

Gorgeous - love the lilac colour! I'm sure it will be well loved.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing...the iron is needed :0) it is just beautiful as always Tracey :0) by the way, you look so elegant with your new glasses ;D mari
ReplyDeletewhat a gift of love....happy day, friend!!! (bet the world is brighter with those new glasses...look great!)
ReplyDeletegorgeous blanket!!! love the open stitch work and how very fast you knit it up!!
ReplyDeleteI was so intrigued by this that I fell down the Google rabbit hole for way more time than intended! I'd never hear of "killing" acrylic before. (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking that tutorial. Your blanket looks very pretty. And super soft! I'm so jealous of your blue skies. It has been grey here for days. The sun may be out today. It's too cold to go out there for long to check it out.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent gift of knitting! The color is so subtle and gentle - amazing blanket! Congrats on completing such a big project!
ReplyDeleteI ended up with a garbage bag size bag of yarn from Project Linus years ago and it was all acrylic. I have made several blankets to donate back to Project Linus and I have thrown them into the washer on regular cycle with regular detergent. And then I have thrown them into the dryer on the high setting and dried them until they were dry. They always come out very soft.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful lilac blanket...I can see the love in the stitches !!!
ReplyDeleteYah! you finished. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blanket Tracey.
ReplyDeleteIt has been quite a while since I checked out the Yarn Along posts, I have missed you and your work. What an amazing gift to wrap someone in love.
ReplyDeleteI read A Walk in the Woods a few years ago and enjoyed it. They made a movie of it last year, but in my opinion the book is better. If you want to read another account of hiking the AT, try "Becoming Odyssa: Adventures on the Appalachian Trail" by Jennifer Pharr Davis, about a woman who thru hiked the AT.
ReplyDeleteA lovely finish. The recipients will love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting process for the acrylic. I will need to give it a try! I really enjoyed that book. The audio version is great!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet baby blanket! I'm sure you made somebody very happy by knitting it for them. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've taken some lovely photos of the lavender love blanket!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll miss working with that pretty color.
I think I'll have to read that book!! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous gift full of love knitted into every stitch :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely color!!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket turned out so lovely! I'm sure it will be much appreciated! A Walk in the Woods looks really good. It will be going on my list, thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a kindred- I know that beauty will be well loved by someone special. Love the sunny images and the refreshing ocean ones.... Gives me hope in this winter grey. Love to you.
ReplyDeleteI've never killed acrylic...didn't know it could be done! Your blanket turned out beautifully, Tracey, and I'm sure it will be well loved!

Beautiful blanket! I'm going to have to read A Walk in the Woods for the quotes.
ReplyDeleteInteresting Tracey - I've never heard of killing acrylic. While I don't like knitting with acrylic, there is a use for it for people who don't like/don't want to care for wool. (Like my mother who is bothered by the itch of wool.) The blanket is very pretty - what a special gift.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey! Found your blog through Ginny's yarn along, and just had a nice visit through your posts. Lovely blanket finish and Bill Bryson - don't get me started. I love his books and have given out A Walk for Christmas presents many times over. Saw the movie too, and I think Nick Nolte stole the show. Have a great weekend.

That statement "killing the acrylic", cracked me up every time you post it. That blanket is beautiful, Tracey!
