ten to one it carries you down
to water.
~ Henry Melville
Yesterday I showed you my evening knit
project, but it is too large to take on road
trips and most days my road leads to the
beach so I needed something smaller.
I grabbed some lace weight yarn and a size 6
needle, cast on 140 stitches and am knitting
a few rows, purling a few rows. Super easy,
very portable, a perfect project to work on
while listening to waves and seabirds.
I finished reading The Memory of Water
with my feet in salt water. A nice summer
read with pages detailing the lowcountry
[my home], some mystery to make you want
to keep reading, but not so much that a nap
in the warm sun would be missed.

Your photos are gorgeous, as always, Tracey! Love the colors in your yarn. Looking forward to seeing the finished project. How wonderful to be able to knit while resting your feet in salt water! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteAh, the beach looks sooooo good. I miss the ocean. Love the yarn you are knitting with, and your book has intrigued me, adding it to my list. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go down that road with you. It all looks beautiful. Have fun days.

love the wispy yarn and the halo that it has! I am leaning towards simpler knits this summer and when all is quiet that is when I work on my challenging projects! As you know, I'm catching up from last week so I feel like I'm only getting a row or stitch done here and there.
ReplyDeleteOh I how I miss the shores of South Carolina. I love all the pictures and the yarn looks super soft.
ReplyDelete...aaahhh...a trip to the beach...
ReplyDelete~Have a lovely day!
That yarn looks gorgeous! Although I have trouble not messing up my stitches when the yarn is so fine. The color is beautiful :-)
ReplyDeleteHow fun that we're using similar yarns. :) I didn't get to snap a photo until near sunset last night and had a hard time capturing a good image, but oh well. Your day at the beach looks refreshing and make me wish I could pull up a big towel and join you. A happy Wednesday to you, Tracey,

Gorgeous yarn! The book sounds interesting. Don't you worry about your project getting all sandy?
ReplyDeleteYou are a lucky duck to be able to knit and read at a beach close by. It's just beautiful!! LOVE the color of your yarn, it is so vibrant.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, as always.
ReplyDeleteGreat beach photos. Your yarn is lovely. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of the beach. Being at the beach is always the best!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to get to the beach with some knitting! It's almost warm enough here. At first I thought that yarn was un-spun fiber. I thought you started spinning! It's super pretty:-)
ReplyDeleteKnitting on the beach--what a life! That yarn is so pretty, and the book looks good, too.
ReplyDeleteNice beach pictures.

That sounds so very nice right now. We've had overcast skies here in New England the past few days.
ReplyDeleteYour red lace looks like it could be some amazing sea creature washed ashore, the colours fit in so wonderfully with the beach landscape. Knitting on the beach is such a simple pleasure, I hope you will have many more moments like these:)
ReplyDeleteDelightful photos a real pleasure to look at.
ReplyDeleteLooks like perfect beach knitting... love that color!
ReplyDeleteSounds just heavenly - with perfect knitting and reading.
