You must learn to heed your senses. Humans
use but a tiny percentage of theirs. They barely
look, they rarely listen, they never smell, and
they think that they can only experience feelings
through their skin. But they talk, oh, do they talk.”

~ Michael Scott

The five senses, something we learn about
when we are young and then seem to not really
pay attention to...Today I made a point to notice.

 Seeing all the blueberries on
the bushes, none quite ripe
for picking.
 The sweet smell of wild
flowers that stops me
every time.
The sound of the fan humming
in the back ground.
The feel of yarn and metal
needles in my hands.
The taste of homemade garlic hummus
with beet chips.

Do you notice?

1.'s all good...we haven't gotten the fans out yet...but maybe it won't be long...

    ~Have a lovely day!

  2. Just lovely. Look at those blueberries! Enjoy your evening Tracey.

  3. You are quite right we should take more notice of the everyday things around us with relish - I listening to my inner voice much more than ever these days.

  4. Your blueberry bushes are loaded!! I love the smell of honeysuckle, can't wait for ours to start blooming again. Hummus is one of my all time favorites, I even like to spread it on bread. Do you have a recipe for the garlic hummus. Also, I gotta say, I love your tattoo! :-)

    1. Thank you Anke. For the hummus I use the juice of one lemon, 2-3 garlic cloves, 1 tea. cumin, 1/3 cup tahini, 1 can chick peas, salt to taste, and a couple of glugs of olive oil. Blend until creamy.

  5. I can smell the honeysuckle just by looking at your photo, Tracey :)

(ps ~ thanks for the hint about the Yarn Along logo ~ I was working on my post today for Wed and deleted the one that took me so long to do...and so I cut and pasted like you said...voila...much easier! now you'll see me for sure this week!)

  6. Tracey,
i have something small i would like to
send you. May i have your mailing address, please.

  7. Ahhh, so lovely. You are surrounded by such GREEN! Beautiful. And now I want hummus :-)

  8. How cool to have your own blueberry bush. When we have a house someday, I want to grow some veggies and fruit. Things really add up each week. And look at your bad self! Tatt on the back. You go. I have a real good sense of smell and really good hearing. My eyesight is not spectacular I'm afraid.

  9. I do miss honeysuckle. We don't have any and it's a favorite of mine from my girlhood days. Intoxicating! :)

  10. Homemade garlic hummus? Mouth-watering!!

  11. I find that I am more aware when I am relaxed and taking my time through the day. Also when I'm outside something clicks and I tune into the air, the birds the trees!

Love your yarn and I too love feeling wool between my fingers :)

  12. Thank you for your comment...I answered you on my blog : )

I know you are a great mom and I try to be one too : )

  13. Such a sensual post indeed, Tracey - always amazes me to see how far on in the growing season you are xxx

  14. Wonderful post. And what an awesome tattoo!!!! I just LOVE it!

  15. I also ate garlic hummus today! I think that I notice more because of my little babe, at least I hear more. She hears everything, especially airplanes and trucks. She even puts her little finger up beside her ear and pauses what she is doing until I acknowledge, yes, it is an airplane way up high in the sky.

  16. Did you make your own beet chips? Baked? I planted beets again this year even though I told hubby until he eats all the pickled ones, I'm not planting them again. He talked me into it to make beet chips.

  17. Oh gosh your photos are so lovely, I could amost taste that dip with the awesome beetroot chip.

  18. Blueberries my favorite. I just planted 2 in my garden and now I just have to wait a couple of years before I can pick any :)
We all should take the time to stop and notice / sence what´s happing around us.
Oh almost forgot - love your tattoo :)
