SUDDEN JOY

All of us have had the experience of
a sudden joy that came when nothing
in the world had forewarned us of its
coming - a joy so thrilling that if it was
born of misery we remembered even the
misery with tenderness.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

This has been a long weekend
filled with joy, a joy that fills
me up, a joy that I hope continues
as the holiday season unfolds, a joy
I'm holding tight to.

Thanksgiving was splendid, filled
with family, good food and love.

I have made three batches of stock
that are now stored in the freezer
just waiting to become a soup
or a stew.

The house is ready for Advent
and I have spent the last few
days working on 'top-secret'
gift making, my favorite kind.
The sewing machine is even out
as this gift making stuff is
serious business.

I haven't been to town in over
two weeks, and really wouldn't
mind if I never stepped in a store
again. An all handmade Christmas
sounds perfect to me.

I am preparing for a trip, one that
I will travel alone, leaving my
two guys here to fend for themselves.
Ten days!
It's been years since I've flown and
I've never traveled alone. Oh,
my world is changing.

Joining with Amanda.

  6. Can't wait to hear the travel destination! I know you will have FUN. I don't care for crowds so I only shop early in the morning before most people wake up. It works for me.

  10. my idea of shopping is the same year round....a trip to the grocery store. I don't think I've been in the mall in years (and have no intention of doing so this year, either!!!) sewing machine, huh??? I'm intrigued! What's up!???

  11. How exciting! A trip all of your own. I do so enjoy those! I hate shopping and usually end up heading out to shop at the last minute because I dread it so much and put it off. If I were a planner, I could do an all homemade Christmas, but I'm not.
