EDISTO...A YARN ALONG

"For each of us, then, the challenge
and opportunity is to cherish all life
as the gift it is, envision it whole,
seek to know it truly, and undertake—
with our minds, hearts and hands—
to restore its abundance. It is said
that where there’s life there’s hope,
and so no place can inspire us with
more hopefulness than that great,
life-making sea—that singular,
wondrous ocean covering the
blue planet.”

~ Carl Safina

A lovely day at the beach
and while I am almost
ready to begin Chart D
on Leaves of Grass, I
brought along Edisto,
named for the beach that
holds a special place in
my heart and the place I
would spend all of my time
if I could get away with
it.  The pattern is very
to remember, only a four
row repeat, so it's a great
take along project, no charts.

I finished Dark Places and
truthfully didn't enjoy it.
Oh, the story line kept me interested,
and I stayed up late to read since
it really held my attention, but
I didn't like the characters
at all. I didn't bond with any
of the people in the story, they
were not very nice people and
I didn't really care for the ending
either.

Now I am reading The Silver Star
by one of my all time favorite
authors, Jeannette Walls.  She
wrote The Glass Castle, which
is one of my top ten books.
Have you read any of her books
yet?

  1. How pretty is that delicate blue wool. Photos of the seashore mesmerising.
Haven't read any of Jeannette Walls, but recommendations are really the best way to read as so many books I pick up don't hold my attention - I have become more picky the older I get - my time is precious and I don't want to waste time reading material that is a trial. I have put Ms Walls on my list - many thanks.

  3. I loved Glass Castles so now I have yet another book to add to my list to read. I did not care for the book you finished either for the same reasons. Glad to know I'm not the only one. You are so lucky to live near the sea!!!

  8. I loved the Glass Castle. I've got the other book Half Broke Horses, but haven't read it yet. It's on my to read bookshelf, working it's way to the top. Beautiful yarn colors, can't wait to see the finished project!

  9. I find Walls to be devastatingly honest and engaging. I read Glass Castle and Half-Broke Horses. Both fantastic reads, but the first was oh so tragic. What beautiful yarn - so wispy. I am eager to see the wrap.

  21. What a pretty post Tracey, i Especially love the last image. That yarn looks lovely and so soft to work with. I haven't ready anything by Jeanette Walls yet but noticed it on a couple of peoples yarn along page over the last few months. I had a look at your link and then ended up googling JW and her books they sound fascinating. I'll definitely be buying the Glass Castle next. That's another of your recommendations I'll be reading.
