WEEKENDING: GRANDPARENTING

Nobody can do for little children
what grandparents do. Grandparents
sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives
of little children.

~Alex Haley

My weekending started Friday
with a trip to pick up Emerson
for the weekend while her parents
traveled to Florida for an Army
retreat.
We have run races and dug for
dinosaur bones, baked cookies,
and completed lots of crafts, read
dozens of Christmas books,
with this one topping the list.
We sorted buttons and finally
decided on the sparkly ones
for her mom's cardigan, and
I think we used a whole tree's
worth of paper with the amount
of drawing we did.
We told silly knock, knock jokes
and laughed, laughed, laughed.
I received numerous hugs and
gave back just as many.
She is back home now and I
am sorry the weekend is over.

Here is our favourite knock knock joke

    Knock knock
    Who's there
    The interrupting sheep
    The interrupting...
(Then you interrupt with a loud Baaaa!

Great fun and of course can then be adapted for lots of aminals and vary the interruption - my children all still love it xx

  19. Yesterday I was busy with some holiday gift prep(photobooks for the grands). I remarked to Dave that I had been ignoring the kiddos. He reminded me that they were busy with their grandparents. I stopped and listened to my daughter and my parents having a high-o time. Grandparents are a true blessing and gift. So sorry the time is over, but oh so glad you had this weekend. It sounds divine.
