WEEKENDING

To sit in the shade on a fine day
and look upon verdure is the
most perfect refreshment.

~Jane Austen

Finally taking advantage of
book that has sat on my shelf
unused for far too long and
began a nature journal.
Packed a basket with drawing
materials, a blanket and a
thermos full of iced coffee
taking a stroll down the dirt
road looking for just 'the spot'.
Temperatures have soared back
into the nineties making me
wonder if fall will ever arrive,
but I finally found a nice shady
area to spread my blanket,
enjoying  several hours of drawing,
there might have been a little
napping too.
After the weekly market trip
there was a quick stop at the
LYS for some needed supplies
for gift I want to make.
 Did you know Christmas
is in 113 days?
Today there will be knitting,
besides secret knitting I am
casting on an Annabel Cardigan
using the yarn   [#2415]
I was gifted for Mother's Day.
Dinner will include these
because I have a craving.
I hope you are enjoying the
weekend and if you're in the US,
I hope you have a great
Labor Day.
Joining with the lovely
Amanda.

  1. Sounds like a lovely weekend! I've been trying to get outside with Ree more often. The heat hasn't been helping though. Hopefully fall will arrive soon so we can do some nature study! Those sweet potatoes look delicious! I'll have to try them. Only 113 more days???? I need to get started!

  8. What a lovely weekend. It was Father's Day on Sunday down under. We had a lovely day with 3 of our 4 children and 7 out of 8 grandchildren - no complaining here either.

  10. Good luck with your journal! I hope it goes well for you... it's cool here today. Open the windows and let the sun in, cool. Feels a bit like fall, and my leaves are changing on the tree in the back already! I'm excited, honestly! I love fall the best!

  11. What?! 113 days? This year I am especially feeling the need to get ready for the holidays early and thoroughly because with a Christmas Eve due date looming for this baby, I know that rushing around last minute just isn't going to happen :)
You've successfully passed on your craving and now I know what I will be doing with the lone sweet potato on my counter today. Yum!
