When you photograph people
in colour you photograph their
clothes. But when you
photograph
people in B&W, you photograph
their souls!
~Ted Grant
in my family room, one that
is filled with photos of people
who have been in my life,
people who are no longer
here physical, but now live
in my heart.
I also fill it with a few photos
of the people who are still
here, but have changed and
grown.
Every few years I change the
color of the screen and the
scrap book paper giving it a
whole new look, but the
photos?
No, the photos stay the same
because they are part of my
soul.

what a lovely idea!!! and i adore that quote!!! how true!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I love old photos. My husband and I lived at my Nana's for a time after we were married, and I found so many old pictures it was awesome. She is 94, so they went back quite a ways. It was so interesting to pull them out and then to listen to the stories she would tell about the people and places of those pictures.
ReplyDeleteIs that you with shorter hair??? Love the photo! I have old photos of my grandparents that are in single old frames. I like the idea of changing the matting.
ReplyDeletelook at young tracey!!! love how you choose to display photos...we love having photos around.
ReplyDeleteI THOUGHT that one might be Tracey.
DeleteSo cute you were and are.
XO
Oh yes, I agree, I like black & white photos so much. They really show the person!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! We have the "hall of photos" upstairs...also known as the portrait wall.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote! I'm going to have to write that one down. Loving the idea of just changing the paper/matting for a whole new look but keeping the same photos. Old photos are some of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photographs Tracey. I have a thing about black and white photos...I just love them. I made a similar wall over our bed with black and white/sepia photos...you've reminded me that I need to add some new faces to it.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a special item! The quote you include at the top is so true...
ReplyDeleteI Love black and white photos...that display must be a very special part of your home. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea!
ReplyDelete~Have a lovely day!
Love these old photos! I love to remember where we've come from.
ReplyDeleteThat dear Tracey, is gorgeous.x
ReplyDeleteHow sweet and what a wonderful thing to share for Thrifty Thursday. I would love to see the wall in its entirety!
ReplyDeleteXO
I like that quote about color and b&w - how true! Will you say who that young girl in the bikini is? You? Or a daughter? I love old photographs - so important to pencil in who they are on the back so that they can be passed on to future generations...
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen, it's me at the beach when I was 16.
Deletewhat a truly lovely idea, thank you for sharing this dear tracey. and what a beauty you are.
ReplyDeleteLove the quote, beautiful and so true. We have photos everywhere in our home, I feel like it connects me to the people of the past somehow.
ReplyDeleteThat quote is so very true. Thank you. I keep our photos on a wall in the house. We have photo from each of our families as well as the one we made together. I love it. I thought that photo was you!
ReplyDeleteOh Tracey love those old photos, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove this as much as I'm inspired by the stories that accompany the photos. Thanks for your kind words on my from the heart post. You are so right -- this mama thing we've got going on comes with the skills to mend broken hearts. Yes, we will be fine and I will be too, especially with the kind words of mama pals like you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to be able to surround yourself with pictures of those you love. Whenever I see old photos at thrift stores I feel such sadness...they've been separated from their families and their stories. Hold your photos close!
ReplyDeleteJust amazing Tracey! I love how you change the look around and those are some amazing photos!
ReplyDeleteWow Tracey, these are truly wonderful. To have so much history right there, it keeps things in perspective doesn't it? I have an old photo of my grandfather when he was a child, as well of one of my father in his Navy uniform on my wall. They were originally for me but my children respond so strongly to them. They never knew their great grandfather or my father, so I realize now that these pics were never for me, but for them :). Thanks for sharing a part of your history Tracey!!

Your quote today says it all.
ReplyDeleteColor is eyecandy
b&w is the composition, subject, and for the the contract between black and white with that medium grey inbetween.
thanks for giving me time to reflect on the differences
