YARN ALONG

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Joining with Ginny for this week's Yarn Along.

Most of my knitting this week
as been knitting Love Pockets,
although I did manage to do a
few rows on my cardi. Since I
am adding eight new stitches
every other row it is now taking
me a little longer to work my way
across.
Not long ago I saw some great
looking cotton baskets...and then
I saw the price...ouch! So, I decided
to do what I always do and make
my own. I found some cotton
clothes line at the hardware store
and I already own some large
knitting needles, now I need a
pattern. I hope to have time
this weekend to search one out
unless someone knows of a good
one they would like to share?
I am still reading Edgar Allan Poe
and am looking forward
to Raven opening on Friday.
I am so excited to seeing
what everyone has been up to
this week. Have a wonderful
Yarn Along Day!
xx

  2. What a great idea! Those baskets will look awesome (but I hope you don't get sore hands). I'm pretty sure my mum has needles about that size that my brother uses instead of drumsticks... perhaps I need to "borrow" them from him!

I look forward to seeing your baskets in the coming weeks.

  4. Darn! I had hoped you found a pattern. I saw those same baskets a bot ago and loved them until I saw the price. Clothesline is brilliant, I tell you. EAP interests me a lot. I read a fictional piece about his wife last year which opened up my yearning for more information. Quite a often misunderstood character.

  5. I can almost smell those roses! They are beautiful. I love the idea of your knitted baskets. I'm sure I have seen a pattern for them at some stage, but can't recall where. I'm sure ravelry would have a pattern or two. Happy searching! Jacinta

  9. You are brilliant! I usually crochet baskets using cotton held double to try and make them sturdy. But clothesline is a great idea! One that I am totally borrowing in the future. (:

  17. I have that Poe book but have only managed one story so far -- shameful! Very smart to make your own basket since the price for that other one is insane.

  35. Brilliant idea to use clothesline to make the baskets! Can't wait to see how they turn out! Allison over at the blog Field Wonderful crocheted a rug out of clothesline awhile ago and it too was awesome. I think clothesline should be the new cool medium for crafting. ;)
