NOT THIS YEAR !

As God is my witness,
as God is my witness
they're not going to lick me.
 I'm going to live through
this and when it's all over,
 I'll never be hungry again.
No, nor any of my folk.
If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill.
 As God is my witness,
 I'll never be hungry again

~Scarlett O'Hara in
Gone With the Wind

Last year they
may have wiped
me out, but not
this year!

  5. oh lovely! how i'd love to harvest my own pecans! sometimes we go and find walnuts here, pecans aren't really native to northern europe.
so, what was your trick? how did you tell the squirrels to go leave your pecans alone? LOL!

  7. don’t let them win!!!! those pecans are like gold! my parents have a pretty big pecan grove and they use them to pay the property taxes....so i never get any!! i was bartering with a neighbor the other day and we traded some bunk beds for a chocolate pecan pie. he’s waiting! i’ve been noticing them at the store for $12 /1 lb. bag. good grief! but there’s nothing better!

  9. Before we even started dating my (now) hubby teased me with making me say the word "Squirrel" because he found it hilarious how I pronounced it with my German accent :) By now my accent is not all that apparent anymore, but I still try to avoid saying the word...

Our squirrels un-earth all my potted plants to hide their nuts in them. Annoying, but also cute since I think they just don't know any better.

  11. Everyone thinks squirrels are so cute.
I think they are a big pain. They make nests in our big Chinese elm and knock leaves all over the place. Glad you somehow outwitted them this year!

  12. I am glad the squirrels left you some pecans this year! Yum! I have only seen one squirrel the entire 12 years we have lived on the farm, and he had the audacity to move in to one of our barns! My girls thought he was cute and wanted to build him a bed...

  15. I am amazed at how much squirrels can eat. I fill my bird feeders (a.k.a. squirrel feeders) every afternoon and they are empty by morning.

I'm so glad that you have plenty of pecans to harvest this year for holiday fudge :-)
