YARN ALONG

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Linking with Ginny
I am still knitting away on my
dish cloth , but  I am about
to cast off and then I am determined
to knit my second sock before
beginning another project.
I should finish my cardigan,
but really, all the love is
gone and I'm just not sure
when I'll finish. It depresses
me to think of the time and money
I have spent on this project, so
we'll see what happens.
I was visiting one of my favorite
thrift stores the other day and
for 25 cents picked up
Saint Therese of Lisieus, The Little Flower of Jesus.
St. Therese is dear to my heart
and I  am enjoying this book immensely.
I did finish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
and while it was interesting, I wasn't
really thrilled with the ending. Since this
is only book one in a trilogy maybe I
will be satisfied by the end of book three.

  2. love the dishcloth and WHAT a thrift store find! I know what you mean about the cardigan ... that's why I REALLY try to only have one project going at a time .. else I just lose ambition to finish!

    Hugs and blessings ....

  3. The book looks fabulous- what a great deal! I have also stalled on my knitting project (more out of ignorance than any things else) so I get the frustration!

  4. Nothing like good thrift shop finds. Hope you can love your cadi enough to finish knitting it. Although, I know the feeling of falling out of love with a knitting project. Jacinta

  6. St. Therese is one of our favorite saints! My daughter is reading about St Francis right now and she tells me snippets of it. Fancinating! Your dish cloth is such a lovely color :)

  7. I love your red and white dishcloth- happy colors for a kitchen!

Would it do any good to rip out the cardi, let the yarn rest awhile, and then use it for something else? I haven't done that often, but it was a huge relief when I ripped out a sweater that just wasn't working. I'm using the yarn elsewhere now and so glad I did!

  8. Sometimes a project just needs to marinate for a while, and then you can come back to it with a fresh mind and heart after some time has passed.
It happens to me all the time.
An easy project is just the ticket when dealing with knitting frustration.

  9. I have a question Tracey, you said that you were using crochet cotton for your dishcloths. From your photos it looks like a heavier gauge than what I picture as crochet cotton. Is it just your standard stuff? Love the look, reminds me of a candy cane in a farmy way... :)

  10. Yup...projects are no fun when they make us feel guilty! Maybe you could frog it and use the yarn in something you do feel excited about? I know that doesn't solve the issue of time invested...

In answer to your question, yes, our dream is to have a little rural land someday. I keep asking my husband if he's sure he's really on board...he's quite the fan of the conveniences of city living...but he assures me that he's in. :)

  11. Your dishcloth looks lovely...best wishes with your other projects...the book looks awesome too...have you seen the movie Therese - there's a newer one now...but the one with Catherine Mouchet is very good...

  15. Sometimes you just need a break from a project. I can't imagine that triple-digit heat is helping even with A/C. I just finished a tiny painting that I started like 4 years ago. See what I mean. Your washcloth is gorgeous!

  17. You'll come back to your cardi when the time is right.

  18. Too bad your love for your cardigan has faded for now. I am sure if you put it away for a bit, you'll be ready to come back to it eventually. I've had to do that in the past. When it's no longer fun to work on, it needs to rest.

    Good luck!

  19. I think I have to agree with Angela. A break is good. My crocheted flowered afghan just sits in that basket while I cast on and work on other things. The weather just doesn't push me into wanting an afghan right now :). It keeps hitting over 100 down here with the heat index. Ick. Meanwhile, dishcloths and socks sound great :).

  21. Tracey,

I can't wait to see your finished "pair" of socks..this time last year I would have never dreamed that I would make a sock or a pair of socks...You have done a great job with your sock and your dish towel...

  22. Love the red and white dishcloth, I am just about to make one in reddish tones for my daughter. And isn't it a bother when you can't find the inspiration to finish a project. Good luck with it. I managed to get a cardigan nearly finished last year and then got stuck on some crocheting around the edges--Not much of a crocheter myself!
