you practically have to live in it.

A WORKING WEEKEND

I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times
a day, and stand in deep contemplation
over my vegetable progeny with a love
that nobody could share or conceive of
who had never taken part in the process
of creation. It was one of the most
bewitching sights in the world to
observe a hill of beans thrusting
aside the soil, or a rose of early
peas just peeping forth sufficiently
to trace a line of delicate green.

~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Thank you for all the love, hugs,
and advise on my last post. Today
I am feeling better and moving
on, learning to adjust to another
change in my life, although I
don't find change easy.

While I dreamed of heading to the
shore this weekend, I knew there
was work to be done at home that
couldn't be put off, so I spent most
of my weekend in the garden. There
is always weeding to do and still
things to plant, and now vegetables
to pick.

It won't be long before my kitchen
will overflow with this year's harvest.
Do you have a garden planted?
Do you 'put food up'?
