WEEKENDING

It's been hot here in the
deep south with temperatures
in the high 90's and heat
indexes over a hundred!
I'm not even going to mention
the humidity, but you know
right? Sigh.

I spend Saturday doing
some house loving, even
completely gutting my ice
box and clearing out quite
a few jars that needed to
be removed. Cleaning out
the ice box is my least
favorite job, but now I am
so pleased with how pretty
it looks so I keep opening
the door to peek.

The corn is ready so it has
been on the menu twice a
day and with the egg production
up they are making a lot of
appearancse too.  Have you heard
that egg prices are going to
sky rocket due to a bird flu?
Kind of scary.

One of my son's stopped by
for a visit and brought me
a gorgeous pair of earrings
he bought while on vacation
in Sedona, AZ. Thank you
Charlie and Ashley, I love
them.

I frogged my grey socks!
Evidently the day I cast on
the second sock I couldn't
measure and when I when .
to fix my error I made a mess.
I really wasn't loving how
they were looking so it was
all for the best, now I can
devote all my attention to
my Hunting Island Shawl.

Today I have been at the beach
and it was nice to see the flag
flying, especially since today
is flag day.  I spent most of
my time in the water, floating,
swimming, planning my week
ahead. Now I'm ready for
Monday, how about you?

TEN LITTLE THINGS

 In my world this week
there has been the smell
of honeysuckle blowing
through the house,

 Getting my jelly jars ready,
it won't be long!

Spraying the fruit trees
with a mixture of garlic,
dish soap and water to
keep the bugs away.

 Afternoon storms that
knock my power out and
scare my dogs.

 The peas were picked,
shelled, and put in the
freezer, at least the first round.

 Beets are being harvested,

 along with the lettuces,

but we're still waiting
on the carrots.

 I started another
project. I know,
I think I have a
wee bit of a problem ;)

and roses are being
cut daily for the table.

The days are full right
now, so much to accomplish
while the weather is kind,
it's that time of the year.
I'll be back soon.

WEEKENDING

that we find ourselves shedding
shoes and garments or scavenging
among seaweed and whitened timbers

It was a great weekend!

A few days of...

~ the sound of the ocean and
   the feel of sand

~ strawberry picking

~ great finds while thrifting

~ designing and knitting a
    hat

~ An empty house, just me, so
   that means a clean kitchen
   and salad for dinner.

I hope your weekend was everything
you wanted and your Monday is off to
a great start.
