SOME DAYS

Only you can
control your future.

~ Dr.Seuss

 Some days, some hours
and even some minutes
are hard,
and when my world becomes
a little too much for me to
handle I step back, exhale,
and try to find the quiet.
 I walk my land
and soak in all
the goodness that
surrounds me.
My Mike celebrated his
53rd trip round the sun
this past weekend. With
the passing of his mama
his days have been hard,
but he always manages
to smile.
I baked his favorite
cake, German Chocolate,
from scratch that I only
bake once a year.
 While Mike had lawyerly stuff
to do in town I slipped away and
spent a few hours at my LYS,
And now have a new pair of
socks on the needles,
 and yarn for another pair.
Andi, I found pink yarn ;)
 I've spent some time playing
with the camera and trying
to capture Miss Bette Davis's
eyes, aren't they pretty?
My sweet Twinkie even
had a few photos taken.
I have so much to learn about
the photography thing, but it's
fun practicing each day.
My daughter Erin, son in love John,
and my favorite girl Emerson are in
Barcelona, Spain for spring break,
staying on a boat and taking in the
sights, I love this photo so much
and wanted to share it with you.

Have a most beautiful weekend my
friends,

Much love,
Tracey

THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER

Your life is your message
to the world, make sure
it's inspiring!

{I pass this noisy guy every morning on my walk
                               and had to take his photo}

I am wiping tears of
gratitude to all you
you concerning my
last post. The love that
has come from all corners
of the world makes my
heart swell with happiness.
Thank you!

I have spent today thinking
it's Friday, does anyone else
ever do that?  Maybe it's because
I know a long weekend is
coming up.

Alex and I made it through
another week of school,
mostly he is working on
his own, I am just here to
bounce ideas off of and to
had out the books. Oh,
and help with Algebra and
I am thrilled that after all
these years it is finally starting
to click; I guess I just needed
to repeat it over and over and
over and over again.

The cardigan I am knitting
for Porter is ever so slowing
making progress, soon all
that will need to be knit are
the sleeves and then the search
will be on for the perfect
buttons.

I am having to deal with
a tooth that decided to act
up. It wouldn't be so bad,
but I am allergic to so many
antibiotics and the list seems
to grow longer all the time.
My fingers are crossed that
there won't be any problems
and the infection is cleared
quickly.
Update:: tooth is feeling
much better, no pain this
morning!

Do you have fun plans for
the holiday? My birthday
is Sunday!! and I had hoped
to sit on the beach, but am
not sure the weather is going
to cooperate, maybe.
I do know that there will be
cake and I am a huge fan of
birthday cake. Regardless
to the weather, I am looking
forward to a wonderful
day.

Enjoy your holiday weekend,
stay safe and I will see you
on Tuesday.

Much love,
Tracey

WEEKENDING

"The older you get,
the more you realize
that it isn't about the
material things, or
pride or ego. It's
about our hearts
and who they beat for.

~ R.A.

This has been an 'all about
family' weekend.

A trip up the road to my
son Charlie and his wife
Ashley's home for a little
photo shoot and some horse
loving. A little girl who's day
was made as she rode her
Marsh Tacky horse, Moonshine.

A birthday party at the bowling
alley with all of my babies, their
partners and lots of friends. This
is the last time my whole family
will be together for several years
so there was a lot of laughter and
a few tears.

There has also been time to knit
and finishing the pullover for
Emerson. I will post photos
after it finishes blocking.

Eating Greek grilled cheese sandwiches:
warm fluffy pita with aged cheddar,
and feta cheese, caramelized onions,
and fresh diced tomatoes with a side of
tzatziki sauce for dipping.

Eating birthday cake, really good
birthday cake.
I blame it all on Karen and her
talk about cake for the last
few weeks ;)

Tomorrow I spend the last day with
my favorite girl before we drive to the
airport.  Trying not to cry..

WEEKENDING

"Dip into your own soul
Find your own truth
What calls to your heart
What moves your spirit
Make your life dance
To the song of your own
Essence!"

~ Cherokee Billie

It's been such a fabulous
weekend and I am sorry
to see it come to an end.

I spent Friday giving my
home some loving, test
knitting a new born hat,
finishing my book, [which
I recommend] and starting
another.
Saturday I played with Porter
all day, talked with Alex, the
birthday boy, on the phone and
could hear in his voice the wonderful
time he was having in NYC, ate
spinach-feta pizza for dinner and
crawled into bed early.

This morning I was up at 4:00 a.m.,
made a quick stop at the store for
supplies and hit the beach. While
I didn't get to see any baby turtles
making their way to the ocean, I did
get to help as a nest that hatched three
days ago was checked; out of 140 eggs
only 4 didn't hatch so that is pretty
incredible and I hope they make it
to adult hood.  I still haven't given
up hope of seeing the babies hatch,
I'm joining the turtle volunteers!

Alex won't be home until tomorrow
so tonight Mike and I are snacking
for dinner, watching the rerun of
Sharknado 3, and of course knitting.

SLOW DOWN

Just slow down. Slow
down your speech. Slow
down your breathing.
Slow down your walking.
Slow down your eating.
And let this slower, steadier
pace perfume your mind.
Just slow down.

~ Doko

Just a few random photos
from my week.

I slowed down, enjoying
calm, peace filled days.
Long walks.
Digging in my garden.
Finding a surprise in my
blueberry bush....smart
mama Cardinal.
Picking wildflowers just
like the ones I picked when
I was little.
Watching pretty sunsets.
Playing in my kitchen, feeling
inspired from  Heather's class.
Knitting the toe of my sock,
only to rip it out and start over:
not sure what I did!

Wishing my first baby and only
girl a Happy, Happy Birthday
today. Thirty two years went
by too fast, it feels like yesterday.
I love you!

Have a great weekend.
Love,
Tracey
