YARN ALONG

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Linking with Ginny

I finished a sock!
I wasn't quite sure
how it was going to
turn out since it
looks very strange
until you seam it together.
It fits a thirteen year old
size 10 foot perfectly.
Since four members
of my family have the
same size, I am sticking
with this pattern. Those
who have bigger feet
will just have to wait a
little longer and then I'll
just knit a few more inches.

I am still reading
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,
but to be honest with you,
I have not been reading
much. I am only on chapter
four and these chapters are
not extremely long.  Between
gardening and canning there
just hasn't been as much reading
time as I would like. Now
that school is complete and
I have found my canning
groove, I hope to change
that and read more.

  1. I'm a bit like you I think, although I love to read there just doesn't seem to be enough time at the moment, not while there's knitting to be done. I'm yet to have a go at knitting socks, I'm too busy just now with baby things but socks have been on my mind for a while now. Is that an easy pattern you've used?

  2. I crocheted some socks last winter for my husband and I could have sworn I did something wrong, they were so huge!! But they fit perfectly :). Funny how that is. You have been busy with canning and gardening, which I think is wonderful :). Books can always wait!

  3. I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo right now as well. I saw all the original movies and really enjoyed them so I hope the book is even better.

Great job on the sock. It looks really comfy.

  5. So here I am, tired. I've just had my coffee and am trying to read all the new blog posts before the boys wake up. I see this photo and I just stare at it for a good five minutes wondering "how in the heck did she get her knitting and book to float on water without getting wet?!" And then, duh, I realize it's a glass table. Yes. I'm tired. (:

  6. Those socks look fantastic! I hear what you are saying about your book. I am loving my book, but have only gotten a few chapters in. I use to read before bed. Now, I am usually so tired by the time I got to bed, I am out before my head hits the pillow! Happy Wednesday!

  7. The socks look great! Once my sweater is done, I want to tackle socks. My days will soon be full of canning and jelly making as well, and the only books I will be reading will be food storage type books. Have to take full advantage of all the wonderful summer produce!Let me know how you like the book!

  8. How handy to have several feet the same size - those socks look really lovely and cozy. I just love, love, love knitted socks. Wouldn't know what to do without them....

  9. Congratulations on your first sock! It looks so cozy - which is the most important thing for a sock to be :-). How much space to you garden in? From the amazing abundance of fresh food and extra for canning, I'm thinking it must be quite large. So wonderful for you and your family. Thanks so much for the grocery bag pattern today! I can't wait to get going on it :-)

  26. Well done for finishing your sock. So satisfying! Be warned. Once your family tries them on they will be dropping big hints about wanting another handmade pair!
