world with a cry, the cry of the
human spirit to be free."
~ Anne Sullivan Macy
My plans changed,
I didn't have a quiet
I didn't have a quiet
weekend like I had
planned, instead I
spent it in North Carolina
attending my first, but
not my last Renaissance Faire.
There was lots of laughter, and lots of people.
Music filled the air,
from one corner to the next,
and men on stilts.
Rescued racing greyhounds were
there, the dog of royalty.
This is Queenie and I wish
I could have brought her home,
isn't she a beauty?
This man can not
only shallows swords,
he can juggle fire
and put drill bits
up his nose. Gross!
The jousting was a very
exciting to watch,
and the crowd went
wild when our knight,
Aserwroth, won
the match of the
day.
I saw the most beautiful
fairy, Twig,
and watched the blacksmith
make a sword.
The hypnotist, another first
for me, was quite entertaining.
This is the dress I will be
wearing next year!
My daughter in love
loves to climb and made
it all the way to the top.
I watched in awe as this
young woman flipped and
twirled,
and fell in love with the
sound of the bagpipe.
Learning a little more
about the creatures
I share this planet
with is always nice,
especially when they are
as beautiful as Cricket,
or a little homely like
Lenny
and SquiggyThere were lots of funny
hats to try on,
I really think Alex
looks great with
this hat and glasses,
and while Charlie looks
dashing in this hat,
I think these were my favorite.
The statues were often
human beings,
and sweet fairies walked
along offering tempting
treats.
good kind of tiring weekend
and I can't wait for next year.
