I NEED YOUR HELP

I get by with a little help
from my friends.

~ John Lennon

I need your help if you have
a moment.

As many of you know my son
is getting married next Saturday.
The wedding is outdoors and
the evenings are turning cool.
Above is a quickly snapped
photo of my dress; I'm sorry
for the poor quality, it's dark,
and it's been a long day, I'm tired.

I need a wrap.

I am thinking of casting on this
and using Malabrigo Sock Yarn
in TerraCota [it's orange].

What do you think? Please be
honest, I don't have a lot of time.

Thank you in advance.
Tracey
XO

  1. Honestly, I think it will look beautiful! The wrap will look great with the dress and the orange yarn looks similar to the orange band on the dress. Quick question is the wedding a autumn themed wedding?

  2. I love the dress, and I think the shawl style and the colour you have picked will be perfect!

  3. The shawl is beautiful.... but would you have it done by Saturday?

  4. A very lovely dress and the yarn color seems a great pick and best wishes to the bride and groom!

  5. It's great as long as you're a fast enough knitter. You don't really need to add any stress to your week.

  6. Your dress is so beautiful! I think the shawl is beautiful too, but I'm going to be brutally honest and say I'm not in favor of you pushing yourself to knit it up before the wedding. I'm sure you have so much to do right now - do you really need the stress of another time-consuming deadline? I say go out and buy yourself a pretty wrap :-)

  7. It will be beautiful, but don't stress yourself out if you can't get it done. It is OK to buy one. Enjoy the wedding!

    1. I was just thinking too that if you will wear this dress again, I have a lace shawl queued that has almost the exact same pattern as the fabric ~ it would be perfect with it when you have more time to knit than a week :)

  10. i think it will look lovely, BUT don't kill yourself trying to get it done. if you think you can do it and not be a frazzled mess then i say go for it... if you think you'll be pulling your hair out i say find a nice thrifted one. <3

  11. I think the pattern is lovely and knitting it in orange would be great compliment to the dress. Don't overdo it though, this is a time for you to enjoy and not fret about getting this shawl done. If you can't get it done, just see if you can find something pretty to go with it. :-)

  12. What a gorgeous dress! Yes, to the shawl. Wise words your readers are saying about not stressing about it though. A simple purchased shrug might do the trick. But if you have enough knitting time, go for it!

  15. Do it.
Love the simplicity of it- I think it's a lovely pattern and it would go perfect with your beautiful dress. The wrap it's almost as if it's a fall leaf, the shape and the flow- with those colors you can't go wrong.
    Get your knit on girl

  17. Dear Tracey, I love this pattern very much and believe it would also get lots of wear after the wedding and if you think you have the time to knit it I say, go for it. Have you seen Rosarium by Cabinfour? I think it's requires slightly less yarn and therefore might be less time to knit. Can't wait to see what you've decided! xo

  18. That is a fabulous dress. The Terra cotta sounds good. It doesn't have to be a matching shade.

  19. If you can knit it comfortably, do it, but I vote for purchasing. I'm sure you have a lot to do in the week coming up. Congrats to your family!

  20. I think the pattern is perfect since it's delicate but does not have much pattern/details to it, this way it does not distract from the beautiful, lacy dress. I admire that you consider knitting something in such a short time!
