THE LAST SUMMER WEEKEND

When you arise in the morning,
think of what a precious privilege
it is to be alive, to breathe, to think,
to enjoy, to love.

~Marcus Aurelius

The long weekend brought
my favorite six year old!
There were early mornings,
and wearing funny hats,
watching movies and reading
my favorite book as a child.
Making smoothies and her
discovering I put spinach
in them [oops],
making the best pot holders ever,
a son hanging my pallet shelves,
a return of the heat and humidity,
and trying to catch dragon flies [or
fairies if you believe hard enough].
I love that little girl!
Today brought the first day of school
since a certain young man was ready to
start. I have also been informed he
wants to double up on mathematics,
the one subject I really don't like, sigh.
Oh well, it's going to be a great year,
I can feel it!

  1. What a nice weekend. Your grand daughter is so cute and your son so handsome. I am curious about your son's home school classes. Do you design your own curriculum or are they online classes available through your district or a national charter school like K-12. Just wondering. My youngest took some online classes from the district although he also attended school but he liked the online classes a lot and is now considering online college. Have a good week and good luck with all that math (not my strong subject either).

    1. Thank you Deb.
For school I design our curriculum, there are core subjects I must cover to graduate in SC, but other than that it's up to me. We are taking several on line classes this year for Literature, History and Computer Science so Alex will receive duel college enrollment. I am hoping he can complete college without going into debt.

  9. Emmerson gets more and more beautiful each time you post pictures. So hard to believe she is six! I loved making those pot holders when I was little. I think Ree would like them too...maybe this winter. The heat & humidity came back here this weekend too and it's been brutal!!! Good luck with the math...that is my least favorite subject!

  14. Oh Tracey - what a special last summer weekend you've had the privilege of enjoying. Reading of all that you and your favorite 6 year old did makes me want to ask, "may I come to play, also?"

Loved seeing the picture of your son also!
