WEEKENDING

This nation will remain the land of the free
only so long as it is the home of the brave.

~Elmer Davis

The weekend began Friday {I think
all weekends should begin on Friday]
with a long drive to take Emerson, my
granddaughter home....
...and to watch my son in love graduated
from Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
We are all so proud of him, the
sacrifices he has made and the
accomplishments he has achieved.
Thank you John, I love you.
There was a wee girl who was
so happy to see her Daddy, she
really is a Daddy's girl.
Saturday was a day of much needed
house loving, blue berry picking,
knitting while watching the World
Cup, then a long nap; I was exhausted
after the busy week I had with Emerson.
I broke 'my no oven during the
summer' rule and baked a cake;
it was so worth it, the cake is
delicious and one I will bake
again.  A slice of cake and a
cup of tea were a great way to
end the day.
Today I am going to play
around with this,  read a
new book, knit on a prayer
shawl I am knitting for the
church, cook dinner on the
grill and just relax before
the busyness of the new
week arrives.

  1. I want a slice of that cake! AC was invented for cooking all year round. I'm baking zucchini bread as I type this....can't be done soon enough. congrats to your SIL who looks like E or should I say E looks like him and I think E looks like your youngest.....Well, she looks like everyone.

I hope there was a big celebration with him finishing the academy! What an accomplishment!

  11. Yummy looking cake. Worth breaking the no-oven rule for. I've just watched the vide of the bullet logging. It will be interesting to hear how you get on with it. It sounds super organised.
