YARN ALONG

Be loyal to what you love,
be true to the earth, fight
your enemies with passion
and laughter.

~Edward Abbey

My Leaves of Grass are both
moving along nicely. I am on
Chart C with both of them,
using lots of stitch markers
so I don't have to count
so often.  I am finding myself
relaxing more as I knit each
stitch  and that's how it should
be. Knitting is suppose to be
fun. I was so worried I wouldn't
knit it 'right', but now it really
is an enjoyable process and
I am excited to see it develop.

In between knitting I am having
a battle with deer that seem to
think I grow fruit just for their
nightly eating raids.
I have little bells tied all over the
property hoping the noise will keep
unwanted guest away. The blueberries
are almost ready and I will cry
if the deer find them, it's bad enough
they ate half my grape arbor!

I finished Me Before You and
yes, I cried my eyes out. I
fell in love with the characters
and took them into my heart.
It was a great book. Read it.

I am now reading Dark Places,
a book who's main characters
are  not so nice and a storyline
that makes me want to keep reading
late into the night.

  1. Your grapes look amazing. We have small green ones on the red vine but our green ones are way behind this year. Hopefully we'll have an Indian Summer and they'll catch up.

Your leaves of grass are looking lovely. I think that I've got to the same place that you are in with my Lida shawl. After posting an image of it for last weeks yarn along I wasn't happy with it and thought I should start again and take my time. So instead of rushing and then keep unraveling, now I work slowly and achieve as much, if not more and like you am really enjoying each row.

  2. Good luck with the deer! I bet the bells sound pretty though. I read that book and one of her others, it's too raw for me. So happy you are back to sharing your beautiful photos with us!

  5. The photos are lovely and those grapes look amazing. Unfortunately, deer think that gardens are for them. The bells are a good idea. The projects look great!

  9. Those grapes look amazing! I hope for your sake the deer do not find your blueberries. Living in the middle of the city I don't have to fight with deer but instead it's the blasted squirrels. They like to take one bite out of every thing in my garden. Just one bite and then move on to the next thing. Argh!

  10. I've always thought it such a treat to find deer in my yard. I guess if they were eating my produce it would be a different story. Your grapes?
Your knits are gorgeous. I still can't believe you decided to tackle two at once! :)

    Blessings, Debbie

  13. Have you looked up deer replealant plants? My parents neighborhood is plagued by "city deer" and they struggle to keep them out. Good luck! I hope you get to eat all your fruit.

  15. What lovely lovely greens in your post! I finished Me Before You on Monday night... i loved the book, even though i had anticipated the ending.
There is no yarn along post from us today as we're all a bit nervously waiting for simona and her husband to arrive here at last... they fly standby and this is day 3 of them trying to get on a flight to Germany...

  17. I love your pictures and your beautiful projects.

It is so frustrating when you sound so much time growing your own to have it a ten by wildlife my pest is a little smaller, mice!

  18. I love the green on green. It is so disappointing when the wildlife eats your produce. Here little animals ate nearly my whole crop of olives - they are now trying out my grapefruit! Must get that book JoJo Moyes writes so well - have you read Ship of Brides?

  19. Beautiful pictures as always. I wondered if you ate the grapes or if they were for juicing. We debated planting grapes, but ultimately decided against it because we didn't want the dogs to eat them. Glad you feeling well enough to knit again! It is such a relaxing thing to do!

  25. What cute little bells and what a great way to deter deer. Someone I know used to sprinkle pepper and maybe also cinnamon around their plants to deter the deer.
I love that mossy green. it so lovely. Glad you're feeling well and are up and about taking super neat pics again.
