A GREAT DOOR OPENED

As you sit on the hillside, or lie prone
under the trees of the forest, or sprawl
wet-legged by a mountain stream,
the great door, that does not look
like a door, opens.

~Stephen Graham

A four hour drive,
a six hour hike,
my oldest, my youngest,
and my only,
the sound of running
water filling the air,
no humidity,
stepping over stones,
crossing bridges,
walking through cold,
fresh mountain water,
up, up, up,
just missing fairies as
they darted about,
stacking stones,
almost touching
the sky,
it made my lowcountry
heart swell with joy.

  2. This is beautiful Tracey exactly my kind of country. I love woodlands and trees and water but I much prefer this kind of water that runs fresh in rivers and lakes than the sea for some reason. It just looks perfect.

    Shame you missed the fairies...

  3. Those pictures are breathtaking! I'm so glad you are feeling well enough for outings like this again.

It's so infernally hot here that I spent as much of the weekend inside as possible.
