We all need empty hours in
our lives or we will have no
time to create or dream.

~Robert Coles
A quiet weekend were I
have been able to putter
leisurely from one project
to another.

There has been quite a lot
of knitting on my Annabel Cardigan,
and some casting on to
try my hand at felting
Tiny Bowls.

I drilled and polished a few
more buttons, this time
tiny ones that I think will
look nice on a delicate
sweater or baby item.

I set the sewing machine
up and managed to sew
a stack of cloth napkins
with mitered corners,
although it took me
longer than it should have
to accomplish this task.
I would love to sit down
in front of the sewing machine
and not break out into a sweat,
but I am not there.  I really
think I need to accept the
fact that I will not be wearing
clothes I have sewn myself.

I have ridden my new purple
Schwinn bike that my family
gave me for my birthday and
discovered a new set of muscles
that evidently I have been
neglecting to work out, I am so
sore! ;0

Tonight there will be homemade
feta and spinach pizza on
sour dough crust and a new
game to play with the family.

I hope you are doing something
fun this weekend.

Joining with the lovely Amanda.

  1. love the fabric you chose for your napkins! they look fabulous :)

and your dinner sounds delish. enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  2. I love the napkins! Making a set of napkins is on my winter to-do list. Second on that list is convincing my husband that he likes cloth napkins ;-) I'm so glad you had a fantastic birthday! I love your gift! I haven't ridden a bike in years but would love to start again! I love weekends like yours. Drifting from one project to the other when you feel like it. Something so peaceful about that! I hope you have a wonderful week!

  3. Love the napkins. Enjoy your dinner and the rest of your weekend.

  4. Tracey,

I love the pattern on your napkins..

Thank you so much for the offer you gave me about helping me learn to make a sweater..just not sure if I have time right now....and I don't want to waste any of your time on my slow knitting. I did look on Raverly but the pattern had to be bought...did you buy the pattern?

I have been looking through books and Raverly I do want to start a sweater (it might take a while for me to get started and finish)...I haven't bought my yarn yet how many skeins did you buy?

I wanted to give you my e-mail too:) :)

  5. Those napkins are beautiful! Cloth napkins just make the meal feel so much more...decadent, don't they? I love to give them as gifts as well. Your Sunday sounds wonderful!

  6. The napkins are beautiful! Learning to sew is one of my many goals, particularly for napkins, drapes, and pillow cases. Your Sunday sounds lovely, have a wonderful week!

  7. What a lovely, peaceful, relaxing weekend. Enjoy the weeke ahead.

  8. I am sure I would find lots of unused muscles just mounting the bike ;) You sound so peaceful with your hours of time to putter about. I would love to see those buttons!

  9. a purple bike!!! what a fun ride!!! did you also get your basket???? Glad you had a great birthday!

    1. I did! A very pretty wicker one that straps to the front handle bars! I can even put my little dog in it [which makes me hum the wicked witch song from The Wizard of Oz ;) ].

  10. Sounds like a really fruitful weekend Tracey. I bought the Annabelle pattern ages ago and still haven't got the yarn to make it. Like you I prefer knitting to sewing although I used to make tons of stuff like coats and even a tent for an art project. Somehow sewing doesn't have the same pull at the moment, unless it's hand sewing.

Love your bike, what a great gift. Hopefully the muscles will soon relax into your new mode of travel. Happy cycling.

  11. So when we go to Charleston next fall, do I need to bring my sewing machine? If I can do it, it's not that hard. Think of it like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Lay everything out and then you'll see how the parts fit....see?!?! Love the napkins, by the way ;)

  12. Oh spinich and feta pizza, yum...what a great idea. I love making napkins, such nice project that gets used every day.

  13. Sounds like a great weekend! I miss bike riding. Love the fabric for your napkins. Keep telling myself I'm going to learn how to sew before the end of this year, but now I'm not so sure.

  14. I love that "putter leisurely", it provides such a relaxing visual. So nice you had time for your projects and your new purple bike!! Cool!!! Wish I could join you for the pizza, it sounds wonderful!

  15. I haven't been riding for months. I really must find some time this spring before it gets too hot. Happy riding to you and to think you can put your dog in the basket - creates such a beautiful picture! Looking forward to seeing your little felted bowls. They would make such a wonderful Christmas gift.

  16. I've never seen that game before. It looks like something my boys might thrilled to play in a few more years. I book marked it so I wont forget :) Your weekend sounded lovely. Make sure to stretch out after your rides, that will help your soreness immensely! And the fabric you used for the napkins is absolutely gorgeous! Do you happen to know what line it is from?

  17. What a perfect quote to pair with your puttering...

It feels so good to go from project to project and simply enjoy the process!

  18. Tracey - many belated birthday blessings to you - your weekend sounds a fine one xxx

  19. The napkins look fabulous! I hit up the spin bikes at the gym one rainy morning last week when there really was too much lightning to run outside and found muscles that had been asleep for years!!!
