YARN ALONG

Create each day anew by
clothing yourself with heaven
and earth, bathing yourself
with wisdom and love, and
placing yourself in the heart
of Mother Nature.

~Morihei Ueshiba

This week another
 Pebble Tank, this time
in  green cotton. I am knitting
a patch pocket to add to the
front of the tank along with an
antler button.
Really, I just want an excuse
to use one of the buttons I have
been working on for days.
Interested in a few antler buttons
of your own? Be sure to check back
in a few days for a giveaway.  :)

My youngest son read
Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
and ask if I would read it
so we could discuss a few points.
I must confess that at first I put off
reading this book, the cover isn't
that attactive, I thought the
book would be scary and not at all
what I enjoy reading, I was wrong.
The writing grabbed me on the second
page and I am  reading way past
my bedtime just because I want to
know how it all turns out.
Do you read out of your comfort zone?

I wanted to say thank you for all the
well wishes on my anniversary
yesterday, y'all are all so
sweet.

Joining with Ginny.

  1. I do read out of my comfort zone and sometimes I like it and other times I do not. I have had my eye on that book and wasn't sure I would like it or not. Now that you are enjoying it....well it is going on the to read list. Lovely tank! You seem to be a speedy knitter these days :)

  4. I really do love the colour you have chosen for your vest. And the buttons are great. Can't think of a book that I've read outside my comfort zone. Oh yes I remember I read Silence of the Lambs OOOOOH!

  5. I love those buttons!!

I've seen that book (and avoided it) for the same reason - it looked scary. Amazing how much a cover can affect my impression of a book! I joined a book club to read outside my comfort zone - we're a mix of ladies 30-65 so there are lots of different books (and aspects to discussion) that keep things from becoming monotonous.

  6. I belong to a book group that sometimes brings me out of my comfort zone. One member in particular picks books I would never consider. Sometimes they are really good. I enjoyed the above book. I just wish it had ended a bit differently. Lovely buttons.

  7. you have to be one of the most creative people I know!! Love the buttons!!!!!! I've read that book and LOVE LOVE it---one of my favorite books. Aren't the photos amazing??? (and yes, sometimes the books I've put off reading --for one reason or another--turn out to be compelling reads)

  13. A pocket will add just a little something nice to the tank. I think everything should have pockets.

  14. I've had my eye on that book for a while-I have it on hold at the library, but our city only has two copies!
I'll wait until you finish reading it, and then after hearing about it (if you liked it) splurge on an e-reader copy.

Antler buttons? What a great idea! My boys would go nuts if they knew that such a thing existed. I'll have to stay tuned for your giveaway.

  21. Love that green color! I read that book and loved it too. It sucks you right in and stokes up your imagination doesn't it? I especially loved the "photos" that went with the story and would imagine that a younger person would really get a kick out of it! I passed the book onto my 13 year old nephew; I think he'll enjoy it too.

  22. reading out of one's comfort zone is interesting.
I am trying to educate myself more on World Religions so I picked up a book that was on my shelf for about 10 years and dug in the other night. I'd say the book is out of my comfort zone. Really badly written too. Perhaps good writing makes all topics digestible.

  23. Lovely green tank. Gorgeous buttons - you are so clever.
I read lots of different books just because they are there. Some are more entertaining and some more thought provoking.
    Hope you are finished soon.

  24. I saw that book the other day on sale at a book store. I picked it up, thought of getting it, then was overcome with a sense of frugality and thought that I had plenty of books. Now, I wish I had got it. After all, you can never really have enough books. I love the green color of your yarn. You are so talented.

  25. My comfort zone is non fiction. I should really give a novel a try again. The last novel I read was "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"
which knocked me off my feet... in a good way :)

    Those buttons are amazing!!!

  28. Goodness I love these buttons. As you probably saw from my blog when you popped by, I live on the edge of the Wyre Forest and I (and my boyfriend) are a little obsessed with the deer that live in the forest. There is nothing more majestic than a stag and so antler buttons....that would inspire me to knit Ted something for christmas just because I lknow he would be so impressed. We are going to Scotland for his birthday (30th) and the first thing he said was oooooh it will be rutting season - we may see some deer!
I love your blog and your wonderful quotes. I dont know where you find them but they really touch a chord with me.
    Sx
