Treats

I bake as a hobby: it is something that I throughly enjoy.

Most days there is something  in the oven: the smell drifting in
the air: the promise of a delectable morsel to be savored in the afternoon.

As I sit at the table in the mid afternoon with a hot cup of coffee
and a freshly baked good- it reminds me to slow down: to
breathe: to pause and remember to give thanks for all of my
blessings.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup wheat flour
1 teapoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup raisins

Cream together butter and sugars, add eggs and beat well. Mix in vanilla.

Sift together all-purpose and wheat flours, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture.
Mix well.

Add oatmeal, walnuts and raisins. Stir well to combine.

Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees until lightly browned, 8 to 10
minutes.
