There is nobility in compassion,
a beauty in empathy, and a grace
in forgiveness.

~ CherokeeBillie

My weekend began along with
so many others as we once again
watched evil touch so many, and
while I am saddened and heartsick
I refuse to let it alter my outlook
because I believe that there is still
so much goodness in the world
and I will not be afraid.

Saturday morning saw me out
the door early to visit a few yard
sales with a daughter in love and
then brunch at a local cafe. As
I sat knitting and drinking my
chai I saw the walls decorated
with photos from around the
world, Paris, France was directly
in front of me.

I am always on the look out for
old Pyrex and every once in awhile
I am rewarded, I found two small
icebox dishes and love that they
have the rooster print.

We has a lovely couple stop by the
house for a visit, my Mike's young
cousin and his girlfriend. It was fun
to catch up and share stories and
photos of when he was a baby. I have
a promise they will be back again
which makes me smile.

Sunday has been relaxing, starting with
really good teabag quotes, and a long
walk around the property. While it
still hasn't been cold enough for a frost
it was cold enough for me to wear my
wool poncho and a hat. I started a new
knit project and now am preparing to
cook dinner and then enjoy a really
big bowl of butter pecan ice cream,
my favorite.

Weekending with Karen

  1. I love your resolve to stay calm in the face of so much evil going on in our world right now. It would be easy to get sidetracked by fear, but that would steer us away from the beauty and kindness all around us.
Your time spent with your DIL and your special visitors sounds like fun.
I'm happy to hear that you found some Pyrex pieces at the thrift shop. Love that pattern.
Glad to hear you are able to wear some of your pretty pieces.

  2. nice find with the pyrex, I try to keep my eyes out for it as well. I tend to give it to the kids though...I need to keep it for my self. Sounds like a good weekend :)

  3. Oh my heart has been breaking all weekend over the events in Paris, but we must continue to look for the good, to be kind, and to share our love. So with you on that Tracey.

It sounds like you have a good weekend, love the pyrex find, sweet! I love my Yogi tea, the quotes always give me something to think about.

Enjoy the coming week my friend.

  4. The ice cream sounds tasty! I wonder what your new project is.

  5. lovely weekend!!! and the new project is......????

  6. You had a great weekend! I love the Gluten sign. That made me laugh.

  7. Paris has been on my mind too- we lived really close to three of the sites and got to meet and talk to several people who live and work there. but i am so with you - about not being AFRAID. Have a great week...p.s. those blue roosters are such a score!!!

  8. You have a wonderful outlook Tracey. We will not be afraid.

  9. That vintage Pyrex looks wonderful! I love finds like these.

Yes, it has been a sad weekend. I have found a lot of comfort in the small, daily routines and delights.

Wishing you a very lovely week!

  10. I agree with Donna, your outlook gives us all strength. I love Pyrex too, and am always looking for it at sales and thrift stores. I love the rooster design too. My favorite Pyrex is the solid-colored stuff, like pink and aqua. I'm glad you had a nice weekend. I hope your week is a good one too.

  11. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend Tracey. Those rooster dishes are perfect!

  12. What a great way to spend your weekend. I love the vintage Pyrex.

  13. Those Pyrex dishes were a great find! I feel the same as you. I am horrified and saddened by what happened, but I continue to believe in the good out there. One has to focus on the good or the bad wins out...

  14. I love what your wrote in your first paragraph. Very early Sunday morning, before Mass, I went to the flea market. There was a lot of Pyrex there! I came home with a pocket full of tiny china cats for my daughter. They were fifty cents and a dollar a piece. I bought some vintage postcards, too.

Tracey, is there still time to send socks for your project? I would like to mail a package to you this Wednesday, but I might not be able to get to the post office until Thursday Will you send me your address? My email is ♥

  15. Oh that pyrex, you found a favorite pattern!

  16. You are really wise to refuse to fall into fear and despair. The only way to fight the darkness is to let in the light.Beautiful pictures!

  17. so good to read your words it is not good to live in fear. Evil has existed from the beginning...thank you for sharing your lovely photos with all of us... be at peace my dear friend, mari

  18. Yes, our hearts are heavy for our friends in Paris and I hope that we can all find peace in our hearts. I'm off on a thrift store jaunt with some friends this weekend. You never know what kind of treasures you'll find.
