The best things in life are nearest:
Breath in your nostrils, light in your
eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at
your hand, the path of right just before
you. Then do not grasp at the stars,
but do life's plain, common work as it
comes, certain that daily duties and daily
bread are the sweetest things in
life.
~Robert Louis Stevenson
It may not be an exciting, wild thrills life,
but it's mine and I'm happy. This week
has been
* Apple Pie and hand churned ice cream
*Cameilla's in bloom
*Seed potatoes in the ground
*Finishing the instep of both socks
and moving on to the feet, thinking
they need a little heart to give them
that extra 'somethin-somethin'.
*Finally buying blocking wires
so I won't have to use 100's of
t-pins and several hours out of
my day to block my knits.
*Finding more unusual mushrooms
on the property
*Reading a sweet little story and
wondering if I can talk Mike into
moving.
*Still dreaming of our Yarn Along
trip...I haven't forgotten.
*Looking in the sky, seeing a huge
X and feeling like I live at the end
of the rainbow.
* Terrible headaches and low grade
fevers for several days
* and hoping I feel well enough to
attend the embroidery class I have
signed and paid for.
* Missing you and hoping your week
was everything you wanted it to be.
* Enjoy the weekend.
Love,
Tracey
Blocking wires? I have never heard of them, they look fabulous! Ooh, the straight edges you'll achieve!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon. I like that flag of St Andrew in the sky :-)
Sounds like you have accomplished much. In all this I hope your headaches go away- no fun.....so that is what it is, you live at the end of the rainbow, I knew it.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
I do hope you feel well enough to attend your class Tracey. Never heard of blocking wires, cool!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
I have a terrible headache today too. Hope yours have faded away!
ReplyDeleteI do relish the common happenings of my days...first cup of tea in the morning is my favorite.
that last photo of the mushroom, what an interesting thing there! amazing.
ReplyDeleteand oh oh, how i would love to move there as well. maybe we could be neighbors. lol
i have been knitting socks as well, but mine are wee little baby socks, much quicker. those socks look nice and thick.
Sorry you haven't been feeling well and you make it to your class. I'll move to Ireland with you if Mike's not interested :)
ReplyDeleteI think I have the same malady - just feel yucky with headache and low fever. Hoping yours is on its way out. Oh, a yarn along retreat would be fantastic. And I think common is perfect.
ReplyDeleteA peaceful week of simple pleasures to be sure...hope you are feeling much better soon, though. We have had lots of viruses going around here... a couple of nights ago I could hardly breath but the next day was much improved. Amazing what some rest and Airbourne will do. Get well and enjoy the rest of the week.
ReplyDeletei love common dear tracey. feel better soon and yes lets dream some more about that getaway.
ReplyDeleteyes, dreams do come true.....let's keep on dreaming!!! feel better soon....i'm anxious to hear all about the embroidery class. (I just found a local embroidery guild...I'm going next week---we can compare notes!!!)
ReplyDeleteSorry you're dealing with a bug. Hope you kick that pain to the curb.
ReplyDeleteYes, one must take time to smell the roses around oneself and het away from all this commercialism.
You are far from common, but I think i know what you mean. I also think you are one amazing person and that it would be great if one day we could meet. Love what you do and who you are. Take care and rest til you are better. We have had a great week and have been enjoying the greeness since our rain. And of course just doing the common things!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better, dear Tracey!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you for Ireland! ;)
I hope you feel better soon, I was wondering "where" you were. Fingers crossed that pesky fever leaves. Love you spring time photos!!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, friend. It's been the same around here. Low grade fevers and mama headaches. Love to you!
ReplyDeleteTracey,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend! (Besides being down with a bug, of course.) Hope you can make it to your embroidery class.
Love,
Taryn
That sounds like a great book, I'm going to be on the lookout for it. I love Ireland and would like to live there. Hubby, however, would rather live in Switzerland. Hope you feel better!

That mushroom looks quite funky!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better, an embroidery class sounds so exciting it would be such a shame to miss it or just not feeling well while taking it!
Have a wonderful weekend, Simona
